69 Days and counting

I was sent a letter asking for info on a 30 yo arrest for a check that didn't clear after ex closed our account too soon during a divorce. Search done nothing found. Sent that back certified and it took 9 working days for it to find the desk of my tech after they received it. Spoke to her that day she tells me she now has everything she needs to issue! That was 10 working days ago and not a update on the web site and nothing in the mail. I'm reluctant to call again since she last said it's on the way but this seems a little long??

Even though all the required materials are present I think there is a lag time between the processing times and the mailing out times. I've read of a few instances where it takes over a week or so to receive the actual ID. Good luck to you though, you're much closer to getting your plastic than I am.

Got a email from the investigator processing my application she was out all last week. She tells me she's processing my application now. I'll believe it when I get all green on the web site or plastic hand. Things are looking good though.

WOW! I thought my wait was getting ridiculous. It hasn't even been a month for me. Couldn't imagine waiting 90 days.

OK, I guess I can quit complaining about my 60 day wait.

I haven't gotten any requests for add'l information, but Saturday is officially the end of week 10 for me. Dunno what to think about that.

Now 80 days and over a week showing mailed and I live a whopping 120 miles from Austin. I'm from Austin and have received countless Christmas cards from there and all were received with in 2 days but 90% in 1. This entire fiasco gives a glimpse of how government and public employee unions deserve to have their retirement benefits on the chopping block sooner than later.

I called DPS yesterday, and FINALLY spoke to a living breathing person.
And was subsequently informed that the BG and prints had cleared but, to quote the guy I talked to on the phone (won't name names to avoid incriminating him)... "Looks like the technician working on your application has been dragging his feet, everything checked out at least two weeks ago, I'll write him an email. All he has to do is click a few buttons and you're all set."
Wait, what? Two weeks? And no update on the site? No nothing?

I love government bureaucracy. No doubt the technician would have clicked a few buttons if his pay were based on how many applications he processed in a day.

Don't get too frustrated! The process'll be over before you know it and you'll receive your plastic in a regular envelope in no time. The complete CHL process is painfully slow though but once you receive your license you'll forget all the waiting.
