I mailed my packet in on 3/26/12 and checked again this morning and it still shows waiting for packet?
I have a confirmation that it was delivered.
So should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry. Mine took a week, but I have seen others who have taken much longer.

I sent mine in on the 26th as well, received by DPS on 28th. I got my first update this morning, so hang in there. Hopefully you will see something soon.

I mailed mine on 3/15 and didn't get an update until 3/29. You should see an update any time now!

Wife and I sent ours in 3/26 and just got our first update today 4/12. Hang in there even though it seems like forever.

Whenever I have a chance to get on the forum I always try to tell the people that are waiting "Do Not Check The Site" at least until it has been 45-50 days. It will drive you nuts (personel account here).
The fact is they only change the status when they want to. In a lot of cases I've seen, the website is still showing processing, or background check or some other status, when the plastic comes in the mail.
Instead, use the spare time to find out what carry wepon/method works best for you. Carry around the house all of the time. This will get you feeling more comfortable in carrying for when you go on the infamous "Wally Walk".

Agreed. It also wouldn't hurt to practice (with an unloaded firearm) some slow smooth presentations from the holster. Even as few as a dozen a day adds up during the wait and starts to build this often neglected skill.

I appreciate all of your suggestions and have been looking at different options with the guns I have and at new guns.
But the wait is almost over it is mailed. Which I realize might mean a few weeks yet, judging by some of the other posts.
Thanks I am sure I will have more questions soon.
