My name is John and as of 5:00pm today...I will be waiting for that little card that everyone loves so much.
Quick question:
Once you've completed the fingerprint portion of your application, will it show up on the DPS website? I visited L1 on Friday (8/3/12).
Seems to take about 2 weeks from mailing before your application shows any activity. From what I am seeing, it takes 4-5 weeks for the background check from fingerprint submittal. The background checks seems to be triggered by the fingerprint submittal...

Maybe going to the range a few times will help me deal with the stress. LOL
Lets see, Wednesday is the 8th of August, so you have 12-maybe 14 days from that date to see the status change on the Tx dept of public safety web site to see back ground check and finger print check under way. It does take a while some times, but we all go through it.
Well... I'm starting to realize that this process is going to take a LONG time.
To ease the pain of patience, I went out and bought a Taurus TCP .380!!! I am taking it to the range today to test fire it. I can't wait to carry this on my ankle and my Ruger lc9 in my Desantis Intruder... UGGHHH dreamin'

Be sure and post and let us know how it works out for you. Also don't expect the impossible (on aiming and shot groups) from a gun this small and it will be fine.
I broke down today and called the DPS... LOL its only been 7 days.
I was told that my background check had already been completed and everything was done. The Customer Service rep told me that my application is just sitting around waiting for someone in data entry to put it in. After that, it will be printed. I was also told that I would have my license in hand faster than the average first time CHLer.
SWWWWWEEEEETTTTAAAA!!!! I hope that he wasn't just trying to get my off the phone lol

I know what you mean. I get all excited like a little kid in a candy store or a fat kid eating cake when someone even mentions guns or the range. I'm like that dog in the beggin' strips commercials... GUUUNNNS?!?!?
Gunnewb you got my hopes up!!!! I like you submitted my paper work via US mail on 8/6... I haven't had any updates and even though I know they only update it at 6am every morning i still check every day.. I have been following your posts and saw you broke down and called DPS and they told you it was almost done! I then decided to call and they told me that there was no record of my packet yet and I had to wait
Congrats to you and Keep us updated on when the online status changes and when you get your plastic!
I'm sure that your packet is at least sitting in the mail room... I sent my packet out via USPS and it arrived in Austin two days later (8/8/12).
I am going to call back up there tomorrow to double check the accuracy of the customer service reps claims. Sometimes CS reps will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you off the phone lol. BUUUTTT I'm pretty sure that what he told me was the truth...
I know that when I initially sent off my papers, it took them a little while before the site changed. Prior to this I got the confirmation from USPS that it was delivered and attempted to call to see if they received it. The lady who answered said it could take up to 2 weeks before they sort it out of the mail. I wouldn't look to much into that though since mine took about half of that.

Just think about how ridiculous that sounds... 2 weeks to sort mail. Those folks over in Austin must get 2 hour lunches and two 30 minute breaks each day.
