Called yesterday, was told I went "in process" on March 31st, and to give it a few weeks, maybe a month-ish, maybe longer.

Still no change to my status on their website.

Hoping to see some plastic in the next couple of weeks (not too hopeful)

Was also told that my application is taking longer because I applied as a veteran, and they're spending extra time to confirm veteran status. Guess I would've thought that'd come out with their background check, or been done at the same time?

I am also a veteran so this concerns me as well. Wouldn't whatever documentation you submitted, DD214 for example, be enough proof of your veteran status?

I would've thought so... my dd214 was clear as can be. Wonder if there's any truth to that, and if so - how much time they spent verifying my dd214.

When I applied back in July of last year I was told that the DD-214 and veteran status put your application on the top of the stack.

I broke down and called RSD today... I was told that they hadn't gotten my background check back yet and that itself could take up to 60 days.

But by law, they have up to 60 days to either issue a new license or request more time.

I wonder how they legally define 60 days... 60 calendar days, business days, etc?

Clearly the law means nothing. Otherwise, people wouldn't be waiting 80+ days for their plastic.
As a veteran, I would love to get a head of the line bump, but I don't expect it, nor do I want to jump people who have been waiting longer.....
Although it would be nice.

IANAL, but most likely none, unless you have deep pockets and know a pro-2A attorney that would take on a very long lasting civil case.

Exactly! Statutes and laws mean nothing unless they are enforced and there are consequences. Even if someone pursued litigation - what would they sue for? lol

Took class and qualified on 1/23. Fingerprinted and submitted all documents on 2/3. I received email confirming everything recieved on 2/12. I called on Monday 4/18 and was told LTC had been issued that morning and should receive it in 10 to 14 days. Still no status change but I hear that is normal.

unfortunately there is nothing we can do other than fight for them to have more funding to add more people to the list. Calling RSD doesn't help because you will always get the same bogus answer and calling your state reps only stops them from working on other apps

I asked my State Rep this same question, I was informed there are no consequences to them failing to follow the statute. However, his office did state that this may be something that needs to be addressed in the upcoming session. I live in District 115 and have the Most Conservative State Rep according to Texas Tech, Matt Rinaldi. I am hopeful that he will address these concerns that we all have. It may not fix it for the people presently waiting, but it will fix it for the future and should make renewals easier.

I completely agree we do need to do something about that in the upcoming session. It's ridiculous at how this process is handled and they need additional funding.

Long time lurker, new member. In regards to the slowness of getting applications out, here is my biggest problem with all this. If you owe the government money, or have a court date for a ticket and don't meet that deadline, they will confiscate your stuff or throw you in jail for missing that deadline. They miss a deadline that is mandated by law and there is no repercussion. I suggest that anyone over the 60 days promised by law should be entitled to a refund of the application fees, I guarantee you the process would magically speed up if they started losing that funding for each application they dropped the ball on.
