Prayer request for my dad and family

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Prayer request for my dad and family

#1

Post by bonehead1185 »

Hello everyone. This is my first prayer request ever mainly because I keep everything bottled up inside but its getting to the point of overflowing now.

I received a call from my mom this afternoon while I was resting that someone in the family was in the hospital. Being half asleep I didn't catch who it was so I asked her to repeat it. It turns out that my dad was taken to the hospital from work because he was very light headed and dizzy. I immediately became fully awake as this was a complete shock to me. My dad is only 46 and has had pretty good health, the only major problems being a bad back (which I have already started to have at 23). He stayed at the hospital for a few hours and then was released on the condition that he take it easy this weekend and to go see a doctor next week for a stress test. When I talked to him earlier he said that they think it was just all of the stress he has been having at work that caused it but not for sure. For as long as I can remember my dad has always worked hard and always put in long hours but I never thought it would get to this point.

This situation has just about filled me up with stress and worry because he is not my only family member having health problems. My mom's sister is constantly in and out of the hospital with complications dealing with her breast cancer, my dad's sister has pancreatic cancer (if I remember correctly) and something else that the doctors can do nothing about either one because they are too far along, and also my grandfather on my dad's side has prostate cancer as well as several other problems that have caused him to get weaker and weaker every day.

I'm sorry for the long post but I just had to get it out because I am need of support through these tough times while I am trying to graduate college in August but am 4 hours away from home. My worst fear is something will happen and I won't make it home in time to say goodbye.

Thank you for listening and for any support you can give!

-Matt

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

We are here to listen. Sometimes it is good to talk about things and get them out. Took me a long time to get where I could say that.

Prayers for you and your family.

I pray for God's strength to lift you up into His arms and carry you during this time of turmoil and hardship. I ask our Lord Jesus to speak peace in your heart and still the storm that is raging around you. Jesus said My peace, I leave with you...let His peace fill you and calm you body, sole and mind. I pray for your family and for His divine touch upon each and ever one. God is able.

Hi Matt,

We will be happy to pray for your Dad.

Try not to make more of the event than the doctors have suggested though. It is VERY common for people who have stress in their lives (often times work related), to have a stress/anxiety attack. Sounds like that is what your Dad experienced.

I understand your concern....and I pray that God will ease the strain on all involved.

First off, thank you for all the kind words and prayers. It really helps me to hear them.

As for an update....... my dad called me earlier after he went to the doctor and they said his heart is actually enlarged. So now he is going in on Thursday to have an angiogram done to see if there is any blockage anywhere or any other reason for his heart to be enlarged. I hope it turns out well and its something that can be fixed or managed easily.

Well I got a phone call from my mom today and the procedure went ok. They still could not give a diagnosis so they referred him to another doctor for next week. My mom said that the doctors today mentioned that he had some arrhythmia and that he might need a pacemaker, but its up to the specialist he sees next week to decide what to do. I just can't imagine my dad with a pacemaker already! This is all just too weird for me. Thanks again for the prayers!
