IDPA style matches - Stupid question-what level of practice?

My point is that you don't need to shoot 1000 rounds a month live fire to do well in practical shooting. The big gains come from training in a smart manner, dry firing, having a plan, setting goals and not wasting time and ammo by plinking and farting around.
