PSC-IDPA June Match

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

The June PSC-IDPA match will be held this Saturday, June 26th at the PSC Shooting Club in Friendswood, TX.

New for June!

Pre-Registration:

We will be testing pre-registration for the summer matches. If you know you are coming and would like to pre-register, just go to the Registration Page and fill in the information. Shooters don't have to pre-register for the match, but doing so will help speed up match sign-up and let us get the match started sooner. If you pre-register, all you will have to do on match day is pick up your score sheets and labels from Marc and pay your match fee.

Summer Match Format:

Let's face it, the Texas Gulf Coast is HOT during the summer! For the June, July and August matches, we will run 6 scenarios (instead of 10) in 6 bays using 6 squads. This should let us finish much earlier before the heat gets really oppressive.

The regular starting time for our matches is 9:00 am, but we want to start the summer matches as close to 8:30 am as possible. Whether we can do this will depend largely on how many of our shooters are signed up to get our emails and/or read the website.

Thanks,
Chas.

To those who have never been to an IDPA shoot, I HIGHLY recommend it! I was hooked the first time I participated. The shooting stations have many different set ups that feature barricades, moving targets, reloading on the go and others. I have found this to be the best practice for me and I get to hang with others who support the cause! Also, most gun ranges don't allow holster draws. Holster draws are mandatory and part of the IDPA shoot! These shoots will challenge your current skill level while at the same time help you improve and develop new skills. I simply cannot speak highly enough about these shoots!

This pre-registration feature is great!! I'm putting together the squads and will print the scoring labels tonight and be ready for a very fast sign-in tomorrow morning. You folks who run matches need to seriously look into this procedure.

Thanks for the kind words. The match crew did a great job as usual. We had 80 people at the match and to say we were surprised would be an understatement. We usually go down during the summer months, but we set a new record for our monthly match.

Thanks for coming folks,
Chas.

I absolutely enjoyed the match! I have never been involved in an IDPA competition, and didn't know exactly what to expect, but the guys at PSC exceeded my expectations. I couldn't have had a better SO than J.P. and everyone made me feel welcome. Since I enjoyed it so much, I signed up to became a member this morning and am looking forward to the next match to improve my skills... and ranking! Unfortunately I will not be able to make it to the July match, but will definitely be there for the August one.

So you can shoot an IDPA match at PSC without being a PSC member?

If so, that would be a great way for PSC to attract members with try-before-you-buy, and you get to do IDPA to boot!

Yes, nonmembers can shoot matches at PSC.
it is one f the way we "introduce ourselves" and promote the shooting sports.

The skill level of some of the new shooters was very impressive. I look forward to watching them get addicted to the sport!
