IL: Lady sets record for senior cowboy shooting

#1

Post by seamusTX »

Ms. Linda McCoy of Macomb, Illinois, set a record for Cowboy Action Shooting in the "Silver Senior" category, hitting 10 targets with two revolvers, 10 targets with a rifle, and 4 targets with a shotgun, all in 29.21 seconds.

That's 24 hits with four different guns, all single-action.

I'm not sure I could hit 24 targets with one semi-auto in 30 seconds.

I don't think a lady should be shooting senior cowboys.

What did they ever do to her? :-)

"What's so fun is you can go to different places and meet so many different people. You never meet a stranger at a cowboy shoot," said McCoy. "It's a really friendly group. It's like a big family, and we all take care of each other."
I am surprised that the article didn't say it so I will. Linda "Uh-Oh" McCoy is a modern-day Annie Oakley. :patriot:

Cat Spring, eh? My trusty official 1995 state of Texas folding hardcopy
map found you in a flash.

There is another forum member here from East Bernard, TX. That's close to you
where Texas 60 and Alt 90 cross. I tried to find East Bernard via Mapquest.
No dice. Tried Bernard, TX. No dice. It tried to give me Bernardo, but that's
not what I wanted.

Again, to find East Bernard I had to go to my 1995 hardcopy TexDot map.
Bingo, bango, there it was.

Over and out.

SIA - There's nothing like technology, eh? I have to give you a lot of credit if you can fold those maps back as neatly as they came from the manufacturer (I never could get them to go back right!).

We enjoy seeing the cowboy shooters when they come in to town all dressed in their finery. I can just imagine in my mind's eye what they would look like in the real settings of the time. It's great they are able to keep that image alive, and the shooting is icing on the cake. Wild Bill, I don't doubt the modern-day Annie Oakley part about Linda McCoy.
