President's Day Match

#1

Post by solaritx »

West Houston IDPA (WHIDPA) is going to put on an IDPA match on Feb 15th for those that would like to shoot.

It will be at the Impact Zone. Start time for the day match will be 1pm with a round count of 75-100 scored rounds. It should finish around 4pm at latest. We are then going to put on an evening match (with flashlight work) starting at 6pm.

Match fee is $18.00 This is good for the day match or the evening match OR FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO PUT SOME SERIOUS BULLETS DOWN RANGE......IT'S GOOD FOR BOTH MATCHES.

Questions or just to let me know you are coming.....contact solari@prodigy.net

See you there.

Hello Garry,

I am a fairly new pistol shooter and would like to give IDPA a try to hopefully enhance the much needed critical skills for concealed carry. With that being said, I was wondering if this match was open to first timers to embarrass themselves? Do I have to be a member of IDPA or WHIDPA to participate? I have a OWB holster and two mag pouches but not to sure what kind of cover is needed such as a vest or big shirt. I have been a rifle and shotgun shooter all my life but just picked up hand guns in the last six months. I am still not to sure about participating because my shooting ability is not that good yet and thats not even counting drawing from a holster and mag changes on the fly.

Thanks for your time

sent you a private email with specifics.

To all: No matter your skill or experience level, as long as you are a safe shooter, YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO SHOOT WITH US. One does not have to be an IDPA member to shoot their first match with us, but you must join IDPA after that.

If one is not used to drawing, we start you at the low ready. If there are other issues, we will adapt. We want you to shoot safe, then we want you to have fun.

If you can't shoot with us, then please find an IDPA club that is close to you. I have found that all the IDPA clubs welcome safe shooters with open arms. All the clubs have a wide range of shooters, from novice to expert and master class shooters. All the clubs have shooters that are more than willing to help all their shooters learn and improve their skills.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the update as I was wondering if the match was still a go since Saturdays was canceled.

What time should we get there if the match starts at 1 PM?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a blast with this IDPA match hosted by WHIPDA. Garry and the gang are a great bunch of people willing to help the new guy get started. Maybe one day I will be able to actually compete on y'alls skill level, lol.

Thanks for a fun filled, learning experience that I will definately repeat again very soon.
