OK, my first year of IDPA ends in April and as I understand it, I need to be classified when in the year. So hoping to find one near by next few months. I know we had one at the CHL forum day at the PSC last Oct. I did not do it and had fun instead at classes and that darn STAR! Anyone know of a classification setup coming in the next few months? thanks.

As far as I know, there's no requirement to be be classified after one year. You can't shoot a sanctioned match without being classified, but I don't know of any restrictions on local club matches. I waited about a year and a half before I classified.

You don't need to be classified in a year. The rule about a year is for MAJOR sanctioned matches (State, Regional, National matches). You need to have shot a classifier within a year of the major match you want to shoot in.
So don't sweat it. I suspect PSC will have a classifier in a month or two or three.

Thanks and yes I suspect and have heard a possible classifier at the PSC sometime this spring which is fine with me. Right now, no time to do big time matches, just shooting the local PSC, Arms Room on Mondays and will try others if time permits. I do enjoy it and good practice. Thanks to all.

FYI, Texas Tactical will be holding a classifier at Austin Rifle Club on Saturday, January 29. and one at Cedar Ridge in Bulverde on Sunday, February 13.
Also, if you do come to shoot the classifier, please beg, borrow or steal at least 5 10 round mags or 6 8 round mags for CDP shooters. Revolver shooters will use 7 speedloaders on the first stage alone. If you can't get that many, find someone to reload for you behind the line.
Anything that makes the classifier run smoothly is greatly appreciated.
