Has anyone applied for a CHL shortly before your birthday and had it issued a month or two after your birthday? If so, did they give you the full four years plus 10-11 months after the date of issuance? Or did they start counting from the date of application and give you less than four years?

I know the law says "GC §411.183. EXPIRATION. (a) A license issued under this subchapter expires on the first birthday of the license holder occurring after the fourth anniversary of the date of issuance." I'm curious how this works in practice.

I completed course and mailed the packet just prior to my birthday in June. Rec'd CHL valid unitl birthday of June 2012.

It appears that the ideal strategy should be for applicants to submit the packet a short time after their birthday has passed. My birthday was in June, and I submitted my application in early July. Accordingly, my CHL is set to expire in June of 2012.

That'll give me just under five years of eligibility for this first CHL issuance.
