Question: 30.06 sign and "unlicensed" phrase

#1

Post by kyreb »

Forgive me if this is a repeat but please explain to me the part about not allowing "unlicensed" weapons in a 30.06 establishment.

Logically, it seems to me my CHL makes my firearm "licensed". Otherwise, what certifies a weapon in TX as "licensed"?

Does this mean a Class III firearm is OK to carry? Anybody offer a IWB for an Uzi?

Seriously, I know "it's the law" but have a little trouble understanding the language. Rick

What do you mean by a 30.06 establishment? Do you mean a place that sells alcohol? Specifically the ones that derive less than 50% of their income from the sale of alcohol for on premises consumption?

If so, then the "unlicensed" sign that you are talking about is a TABC requirement and since you are not unlicensed (with your CHL) it doesn't apply to you. Basically it is a warning that what is a misdemeanor other places is a felony there.

There is no 'unlicensed' wording in 30.06. You aren't refering to the signs you see at Stop & Robs stating "The unlicensed carry of a firearm blah blah blah?" If so, those from the TABC and don't apply to someone with a CHL. Only true 30.06 signs like this and the 51% signs apply to a CHL holder.

That is it. Sorry for the confusion on my part. It was the ABC sign...not 30.06.

The TABC sign refers to licensing of the individual, not the firearm.
