Revolver Vs. Semi Auto And Why?

I also voted both. I appreciate the earlier post that stated a "no safety" policy.....I subscribe to the same reasoning....pull it out and squeeze the trigger. I have carried cocked and locked and worried the entire time I was going to blow my backside off :)
I have a little Ruger SP101 that I would trust my life in a second! It is accurate, well built, and responsive to every kind of ammon I have ever run through it. While it is defintely not a bullseye revolver...I have absolutely no problem getting five shots to place where it counts at the appropriate distances. Just my thought.....to each his own according to what feels comfortable.

I voted semi auto. My daily (when not at work) carry is either a 3" Kimber or 5" Springfield 1911. The Kel-Tec .380 is always in the pocket of whatever lower half covering I am wearing.

My reason for SA over a revo is simply that I am more familiar with SA guns.

SA for defense (and my vote) assuming that is the context of this thread.
My preference is 1911 style for previous stated reasons.
S&W 44 mag or S&W 500 for hunting as a BUG.

A big boom is most satisfying !

I said semi for the thin concealability & good round capacity. 1911 at 3:30 w/ 8 + 1. Two extra 10 rd Wilson Combats makes 29. BUG is Kel-Tec P32 in back pocket w/ one extra mag in front change pocket. With good suspenders that is not a pants sagging load.

As stated by others: Single action trigger, conceals easily, faster reloads, greater capacity (13 + 1) + spare mag= 27 rnds., longer sight radius (than snubbies), fits my hand better.

Nothing against "wheel guns", a Ruger SP-101 is the "go to" gun for Wife and Daughter at home. It is simple to operate, points easily, plenty accurate (out to 15 yds.), will not jam (barring bullet creep), powerful.

My Daughter doesn't care, she will shoot either. She can run the steel plates with an auto as fast I can. I hate that!

Yes Flint, some of them ladies do well w/ OUR GUNS. My wife already said that if my 1911 did not weigh 28 oz loaded she would own it & I would be looking. On 2nd thought that looking is fun sometimes.

I carry a variety of guns but almost always have 2-3 on me. BUG is a .357 Taurus snubbie, along with a NAA .22LR. Main varies between a 1911, a Ruger .357, a Ruger .45 Colt, and a couple others. Hate to say this, but the girlfriend is more comfortable with me carrying a revolver than a SA, so when around her, it's usually a wheelgun. Dont know why as she carries a SA herself, but you gotta keep em happy, and i dont feel any less competent with either, so it doesnt matter to me much.

I vote both.

I really like the .357 Mag for it's knock down power and it's reliablity... squeeze the trigger and it will go "bang".

I really like the various S.A.'s for their capacity. Unfortunatelly the S.A.'s are more prone to failures than a revolver.

I voted "both," as I normally carry a 3" .45, but have a couple wheelguns as well that I would like to carry - a little Taurus 85, and a S&W 65-1. Surprisingly, it's not that difficult to conceal the 65, even with it's 4" bull barrel.

My "all-around" holster is just a simple elastic belly-band. It works for me with just about every auto I toss in it, and now revolvers as well. I wear it a tad low, so that the grip just sticks out above my belt, and tuck my shirt in between gun and pants.

So far, even folks that know I carry (and carry themselves) can't figure out where I hide the darn pistols... It really surprised me to find out that I -can- hide even full-size autos on my skinny little 5'6" self, -without- altering my manner of dress.

A year ago, I'd have voted "both". But I have since sold all but one wheelgun and currently don't carry it (long story).

Both my Kahrs act like a revolver, though--no safety, nice trigger and absolutely reliable...

Wow, seems like wheelgunners are in the minority here. I carry a revolver almost exclusively now, made the switch earlier this year. Have probably only carried a semi-auto 7 days total since around March. Not that I distrusted my semi-auto's, but only because I could shoot my revolvers better and had more trust and confidence in them. My revolvers are the guns I always seem to go back to, no matter how hard I try to get into semi-auto's. Semi-auto's are fun, and I've got reliable ones, but I've got a 'bond' with my revolvers that keeps me loyal to them.

There is nothing wrong with that. I also carry a revolver. I carry a 340PD in the pocket everyday. I just changed from my 1911 to a HK P7M13 on my belt. Sunday's I usually carry just the S&W with a speed strip. I don't think the wheel gun gets the respect it deserves.
