Well since getting my license last week I made the walk on Sunday. The weather was nice and cool so I slipped the long sleeve untucked pull over on and headed on out. First thing is that i've been carrying or practicing around the house at the 4 o'clock position and it felt a little uncomforatable. So when i went out into the public i slapped it on the 3 o'clock and it felt fine walking aorund but a little adjusting when sitting in the car. First stop was autozone looking for some stuff but it was early and there was only 3 customers and two employees. Didn't find what i needed so i continued to the next stop. Went into harbor freight and walked around shopping and only really thought i noticed one lady staring at me at several different times. Then onto the next place which was academy. I was not sure about the 30.06 rule so i looked closely before entering and did not see the sign so continued as i did. Found my stuff and one time squatted to look at another item. Adjusted as i stood back up. Went by the gun area and that was uncomfortable looking and carrying. Wen to tcheck out no problem. Then the wally walk which went uneventful but i did get a little ansy(spelling) standing in line and then started getting hot. I di d not stop for the nachos because it was smaller so i will make another trip to the larger superwal mart and do it again.
Findings: As much as i tightened my belt to secure the C-tac it still felt like my pants were loose. I did adjust a few times but only around the belt area making it look like i was adjusting my pants. Sitting in the car was a little uncomfortable because my XD 40 would hit my ribs when i sat down. I do wonder how I would be able to draw my gun if i was sitting in the car because i felt like i was sitting with the grip behind my back a little. All in all i felt pretty comfortable as a first walk could be.

Re: Wally walk and a few other walks
Ive been wondering about the whole car thing as well. I was thinking that I would just place the weapon between the seat and the console down by the seat belt release. As long as it isnt visible, its concealed, right? In my truck, I always have several old wash cloths and towels (some of which need the fish stuff washed out of them ) that I can use to cover it up if need be. I would rather have it there because it seems like it is more readily accessable than if I had to go to my holster under a jacket or shirt. Also, 5.11 makes that tactical vest with the gun slot in it. A holster isnt a big problem in my truck, but I have a new Mustang, and there is alot less room in there. My XD40 holster hurts sitting in the Stang.
Theres room for all Gods creatures. Right between the corn and taters!

Doghouse'
Try a pair of 1.5" wide all elastic suspenders. I call them the best friend conceal carry ever had. They are under your cover garment just like your gun is. No one ever sees them. They hold the weight of your gun & keep your pants from sagging. I get mine at the Army Nave store & they are $10:00. Last a long time.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

Asleepatthereel,
I have anew Mustang as well. I have my PT-111 at about 3-4 o' clock. When I get in teh car I pivot the holster forawrd. This helps. Longest drive so far was about 4 hours.

Just be patient and do not be afraid to try different things. Small adjustments here a there to start out. It takes a little time.
I do recommend a good thick stiff belt and a good quality high ride OWB holster. This really helps with sitting in the car or truck.
If you want to see a bad wally walk, you should see me go somewhere not carrying. It will soon become a part of your normal day and your day will not be normal without it.
