Ok, so I've been soaking up as much knowledge as I can from everyone here for the last Year and I've finally started on my own journey.

I'm 23 and live in Fort Worth. I applied and paid online Feb 8th, took the class Feb 9th. I finally received the application Feb 23rd and got it in the mail yesterday. I was curious if the turn around time sounded normal to get the application in the mail. Hope it's alright but I just wanted to say that David was my instructor and he was very knowledgeable and a nice guy. His website is chltx.com

I don't have my carry gun yet but I'll be going to the show on March 9th at Will Rogers. I'm looking at the Springfield loaded champion.

Just wanted to say hello and thanks for creating this place.

Welcome aboard. Think about coming to the TSRA gun show at the Mesquite rodeo arena March 1. The forum will have a table there & you can meet & visit w/ a lot of us face to face. Just might find that Champion there a week early too.

Welcome.....

I must say that your choice in the Champion is great one. I have one and love it.

Have you thought about shooting in IDPA? It is VERY fun and informational. It helps you learn to THINK and Properly REACT under pressure.
Go to http://www.idpa.com and http://www.ctidpa.com ....
I am a member at Cross Timbers and we really have GREAT group. You are more than welcome to PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for the invite guys. Target1911, I was looking at the ctidpa site. Do you guys meet any other days than Thursdays? I'm taking some classes and don't get out until 8pm on those nights.

Longtooth, I went to the TSRA website and their gun show page but didn't find any info on the mesquite rodeo show. Searching on google I found some people saying that there are supposed to be some guest speakers like Attorney General Greg Abbot and Senator John Cornyn. I was wondering if you know of a schedule or a good website with more details.

Well I was just driving from work to class and I listening to Russ Martin. During a commercial I found out some of what I needed to know.
I guess the TSRA purchased some air time. Still, If anyone has a schedule of events I would appreciate a copy or link.

Chris - no argument here - the TSRA website draws a vacuum.

But, here is the calendar of events: http://tsra.com/calendar/index.php?mo=2&yr=2008

The weekend starts with the Friends of NRA Dinner on 2/29, followed by the Annual Meeting on 3/1, and the gunshow on 3/1 and 3/2. Come meet us there!

The only other time we shoot is every 4th saturday in Alverado.
Oh yeah, and anytime there is a 5th sat in a month, we have a carbine match in Alverado. WOW those are fun

I also have a Champion & like it a lot.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.
