Re: yesterdays incident
The guy comes up with a baseball bat... and you let him get close to you. SORRY I would have warned him and possible drawn on him if he did not back away and called police. Its illegal to bare a baseball bat in public and his intent was to do injury if you said something he did not want here. 25 to 30 ft is my ground for warning when someone is holding a weapon in their hand.

i have to agree though. if i saw someone coming at me with a baseball bat i wouldn't give them more than a few steps before i verbally warned them. one whack from a bat and your gun is useless cuz you'll be asleep.

It is not in any way illegal to have a baseball bat in public.
§ 46.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:
(1) "Club" means an instrument that is specially
designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of inflicting serious
bodily injury or death by striking a person with the instrument, and
includes but is not limited to the following:
(A) blackjack;
(B) nightstick;
(C) mace;
(D) tomahawk.
Now, if you specifically adapt a baseball bat for the purpose of striking a person (and inflicting serious bodily injury or death), such as sawing it off, setting spikes in it, attaching a wrist lanyard, etc., then it could be ruled a "club" and be illegal to carry.§ 46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS. (a) A person
commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or
recklessly carries on or about his or her person a (...) club (...)
