Finally, Plastic in Hand!

#1

Post by mblud »

Got my plastic on Friday! I had a long work out planned for Friday night, 20 miles of paddling down Trinity River then a 20 mile run/hike back to our put in point with three friends (don’t ask, just a bunch of crazy people!). I decided NOT to carry during the paddle and hike, because I did not have a way of carrying the weapon in a safe manor and I really had not thought much about carrying it. I will come up with a good carry while working out in the near future. I would have felt much better with a pistol, walking along desolate roads at 2:30 in the morning (right after the bars close) can get kind of creepy.

So yesterday, after a 4-hour nap, my wife and I went to Target. I had not told her I had my CHL yet, so I thought I would carry and see if she noticed. She did not notice and I felt much calmer than I thought I would. I was wearing shorts and a collard shirt un-tucked. I carried my KelTec PF9 in a Comp-Tec Minotaur MTAC Holster at the 4:00 position. I have found the 4:00 is much more comfortable for me then at 11 or 12.

I still need to do the Wally Walk, if nothing more than to continue the tradition. But I am starting to feel comfortable about carrying!

Thanks to everyone on this great forum that continues to offer such great advice. :tiphat:

Congratulations! Eventually, you'll find that you don't feel comfortable if you're not carrying.

Yes, I understand the shorthand, but I still had this brief mental image of someone paddling a large Tibetan ox downriver.... :smilelol5:

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

Whenever we are out and about and my wife sees something...that makes her say.."hey, look at this"...she grabs my left back pocket. Just a "I saw something" to get my attention. It wasn't something we thought out...just happened. Love that gal!

Left back pocket is Elsie's house. Elsie Pea.

Both canoes and kayaks. A 22' sea kayak that is super fast and a 1950 Old Town wood/canvas canoe that was given to me by my cousin.
