For The New CHL
Just wnted to say dont panic about carrying for the first time. I received my license in July and like all of us new people it took a little while to get used to it. Took about 2 weeks for me. Now I have a new concern and its much worse the how I felt when I received my new carry permit. My issue is not carrying I truely dont feel right. Went to my sons school and it was bugging the heck out of me not having my gun. I felt naked like I was missing my right arm. Amazing how things change once you get used to something. Im sure the same thing will happen to yall

Yep ,I've been carrying every day since the "plastic" came in. For me it felt natural from day 1 .
I haven't had a situation that would make me leave it at home yet ...THANK GOD !

With licenses taking months to process, there's no reason why a new CHL can't be well practiced on carrying before they even get their plastic in hand. I suggest carrying whenever you legally can before even getting the license: at home, at the range (and to/from the range), in your yard, while going for a leisurely drive, etc.

Re: For The New CHL
I'm not even old enough to get my CHL yet and I feel naked without my gun. I have it within arm's reach while at home, and in the car when I drive...so when I visit another's home or go in to the store I feel incredibly exposed...even though I'm not really carrying yet!
Spent the night at my in-law's home last night. I was napping on the couch, no one was home, and their three dogs went crazy out of nowhere. I realized that my decision to not bring my gun with me left me feeling very vulnerable. My father-in-law has a nice Dan Wesson 41mag but no ammo...if he at least had some ammo I would have felt marginally better. ;)
I would imagine that once I can legally carry I'll experience the same feeling of nakedness to a higher degree since it would normally not only be within reach but also on my person.

I always carry a Gerber in my pocket. I can't carry it in airports and going into a lot of govt buildings. It does feel weird missing in my pocket. I drop it back in when I leave court and I feel like everything's where it belongs.
