I am trying to remember if a private business such as a car dealership has to post a 30.06 sign or can it be any sign that says no guns allowed. I could not remember what the law says when on a private business. Thank You.

There is no requirement what so ever for the car dealership to post any "no guns" sign at all. However, IF the dealership wants to put up a no guns sign to attempt to keep guns out of their dealership/lot, and have that sign legally enforcible they MUST put up the 30.06 sign with specific language, size, lettering, etc.Muddauber wrote:Forgive me if this has been discussed before. I did a search and did not find it.

Short Answer: Yes.Bonc_CHL wrote:Can any business post a 30.06 sign? Just one day they say "hey I want one of them fancy 30.06 signs"?
If a business wants to keep out CHL's, they need a 30.06 sign.Muddauber wrote:Thank You. I cannot help but wonder why it is some businesses do not make sure they are in compliance with the law.

If they want to pacify their anti-gun customers by making it LOOK LIKE they keep out CHL's, but deep down want to let CHL's in, they can post something else.![]()
Just my thoughts.
