The Perils of Printing??

Re: The Perils of Printing??
I carry a 1911 Gov't all the time. I either carry it in a Blackhawk Serpa Paddle Holster or a Galco Combat Master. I just throw on a t-shirt or a button down and I am good to go (neither of the shirts are oversized either).

keep in mind that lots of people carry things that arent guns on them that make bulges under their clothes
Cell phones, pagers, insulin pumps, etc etc all things work about the waist that make obvious bulges that arent guns...
a bulge by itself means nothing

Re: The Perils of Printing??
Honestly, I don't worry about printing at all. As others have said (more or less), once you get over your self consciousness, it's no big deal.
I am pretty sure I print most of the time. At least I can see it. And if anyone should point it out to me, I would make a change, albeit only momentarily.
Printing is over rated as a worry. And it certainly is not perilous.

Re: The Perils of Printing??
My chief concern is bending over to look at something at Home Depot or wherever.
In all the times I've done this and then quickly looked around concerned I'd exposed my holstered pistol, I've yet to see anyone looking at me with a look of: GUN! I'm sure If they were paying attention at least a few of them would've seen it, but people just aren't paying attention and I'm grateful for it...
So printing is the least of your worries.
If actual exposure isn't noticed, I doubt a little printing will ever cause you problems.

Re: The Perils of Printing??
I carried my 5" 1911 OWB yesterday and today, without any problems. The gun is real flat and conceals well. The holster is a Galco Concealable Belt Holster, and it carries the gun in close to the body and at a fairly pronounced forward cant, aiding in concealment. My only concern, and it isn't a large one, is that I have to make sure that I'm wearing a shirt with longer tails than for my other pistols so that the tip of the holster doesn't show. Even so, specifically when I'm sitting, sometimes my shirt tail will ride up a little bit and I realize that a small part of the tip of the holster is exposed. I don't know if anyone has ever noticed, but if they have, nobody has ever said anything to me about it.

Re: The Perils of Printing??
Just as a followup from the original post two weeks ago, I'm now not the least bit concerned about printing. I now just throw my 9mm in the Don Hume OWB and go with it. After a couple of weeks, I'm quite comfortable and simply don't care if I'm printing or not. The experience shared in this thread is appreciated and was very useful in getting comfortable carrying. Thanks all.
