Yesterday I was out getting a bite to eat and decided I wanted to stop off at the liquor store to get a bottle of scotch and then it dawned on me that I didn’t know if I could carry in there or not. Since I didn’t know the law I decided to leave my firearm in the truck while I went in.
Upon entering the store I looked over all the signs and the only ones there were the "It is a crime/misdemeanor to consume alcohol on the premises" “we ID“ and advertisements but nothing about firearms. So my question is, Do liquor stores have to post the 30.06 sign or is it a gun free zone like schools?
What is the law on carrying in a beer/liquor store?

A beer/liquor store that sells only for off-site consumption must post a 30.06 sign, the same as any other store or business. IANAL

They must post. It's interesting though; I see more non-compliant signs on liquor stores than any where else.

We really don't see that many, if any, valid 30.06 signs over here in the Pineys...and that's a good sign (no pun intended). Sam's Club in Lifkin has some sort of no guns sign but it really doesn't apply to a CH licensee. Liquor stores over here are kind of spread out and they apparently don't want to deny service to someone making a 50-100 mile round trip in order to purchase adult beverages and/or communion wine, etc.
We do see the GunBusters sign on Trinity Mother Francis medical facilities/offices in Tyler and Jacksonville. I usually go on about my CHL business unless I'm having some procedure and/or examination that requires disrobing. There's no point in calling any undue attention to the condition, IMO.

Up here we haven't seen the 30.06 at liquor stores We have seen the "It is a Federal* crime to carry unlicensed firearms....<$10,000 fine"...
* Can't totally remember seeing 'federal' but I THOUGHT it did. It's been a while since.
And don't get me started about having to drive 2 towns over to do my shopping
