CC at Gun Store
Simple (probably dumb) question, can you conceal carry in a gun store?
Re: CC at Gun Store
Yes. Unless they have posted a proper 30.06 sign.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Re: CC at Gun Store
Just do not retrieve you CC firearm and show it the the clerk or the gunsmith. Most guns stores requires you to get in with your firearm unloaded and boxed if you would like to sell it or service it.

As long as it's not 30.06 posted. Collector's Firearms has a sign saying CHL's allowed on the door.
CHL since 01/26/09

Re: CC at Gun Store
If I found a properly posted gun store, I would not hesitate to do business elsewhere. I'm sure they're out there, though.

Re: CC at Gun Store
Along a similar vein, what about use of a concealed handgun at a shooting range? Can you CC up to the shooting line, then unholster, change ammo to FMJ, and fire away?
Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target."

Re: CC at Gun Store
Where I shoot, there's a big sign on the outside saying no loaded firearms allowed upon entering. As all the employees open carry, I feel pretty safe in abiding by that rule. I take the mag out of the pistol, with chamber empty, and go in. I've not had a problem doing it that way. YMMV depending on the range rules.sjfcontrol wrote:Along a similar vein, what about use of a concealed handgun at a shooting range? Re: CC at Gun Store
But "No Loaded Firearms" is not a 30.06 sign. So does it necessarily apply to a CHL holder?

Re: CC at Gun Store
I don't know of any shooting range that posts a 30.06 sign. That would defeat the purpose of why they are in business to begin with.sjfcontrol wrote:But "No Loaded Firearms" is not a 30.06 sign. So does it necessarily apply to a CHL holder?

Re: CC at Gun Store
Only partially. Since it's not a 30.06 sign, you can't (IMHO) be arrested, but you can be asked to leave for violating the range's rules.sjfcontrol wrote:But "No Loaded Firearms" is not a 30.06 sign. So does it necessarily apply to a CHL holder?
I am not a lawyer.
Re: CC at Gun Store
Depends on the range. All are different. You need to check with your local range for the rules on shooting your CCW.sjfcontrol wrote:Along a similar vein, what about use of a concealed handgun at a shooting range? Bullet Trap in Plano allows it as you stated above; unholster at the line, shoot, reload PD ammo and reholster ONLY when completed shooting.
