Re: Bulge was too big
Don't worry about printing a big gun. 90% of people are running around in condition white and won't see the shirt bulge.
Of the 10% who see it, 9% don't think anything of it. Most of the remaining 1% are too embarrassed to ask.
It's very rare that anybody assumes 'gun'.

Re: Bulge was too big
People don't notice bulges. They are wrapped up in their own world. The only time I've ever made anyone carrying was an old man out for a walk in sweats and the wind was blowing really hard which encouraged the printing.
Other hint is don't fidgit with your cover. Check it once. Constantly reaching to adjust will attract peoples eyes to it.

No, I asked...nobody does it. They all carry simply to safeguard their families and never have had a "cowboy" thought in their lives. Seriously, I know exactly what you mean, but most people on the forums don't really want to discuss any alter-egos.surferdaddy wrote:I just didn't think I looked cool enough doing my boxer shorts Jack Bauer rolls in front of my bathroom mirror with the little 380. Re: Bulge was too big
speedsix,
I think I probably do know. I am 54 years old now and have seen a lot of life. I know myself to be somewhat typical of the American, red-blooded, male. I think that most of how I think is how a lot of guys think...it is what you do with those thoughts that count. I don't blame anyone here for not wanting to talk about that alter-ego side, that is purely personal...I will admit I have had my cowboy thoughts, but that is about all I would ever reveal.

Re: Bulge was too big
I think the main thing is just to carry a lot. As time goes by you'll start to figure out what works and what doesn't and eventually you'll be able to carry a bigger gun without feeling weird about it.
The smaller your shoulders are compared to your waist, the more effort you'll have to put in for belt carry because of the way your shirt falls. Generally you'll have to move it back so that it falls under the drape of your shirt behind your hip where your back curves in, or wear a looser overshirt.
The most important thing, though, which I can't stress enough, is to use it as an excuse to buy as many guns and holsters as possible.

...or you could grow a belly over your belt that makes the shirt hang looser...and provides shelter from the rain....a lot of us have taken that route...

Re: Bulge was too big
when I first started to carry I was constantly thinking about if I was printing or not. as time goes by you will feel more comfortable and less concerned -
remember you know its there - so you are drawn to it - other people dont so they are not
loose clothing, good gunbelt, good holster and you are good to go

Re: Bulge was too big
I carry while wearing a regular colored t-shirt. The bulge is noticable with the Taurus, especially when I sit. But I don't worry about it. Either no one else notices or it doesn't bother them. I have even had LEOs around and they never gave me much more than a second glance toward the bulge, but they have never approached me about it. Strap it on, consider it concealed and go about your business.

Re: Bulge was too big
I ordered a crossbreed supertuck for my colt defender on July 1st ,same day I got my plastic, it came yesterday. I have been wearing it for 11 hours today and can't believe how comfortable it is . I have been wearing it at about the 3:30 position, very comfortable driving or sitting down . With a loose fitting shirt you can't tell I'm carrying a large frame pistol. My Kahr cw9 seems to fit well too so I can use it for both of my carry guns , I could not be more satisfied .

Re: Bulge was too big
I have an under shirt with two gun pockets
( bought at cabellas fort worth $60.00)in it this works
well however it is a little too tight and hot in the summer
I wear a shirt over it that is one size larger than my usual size
I use it for my 38 Tarus I keep ammo in the
other pocket in an aluminum wallet that I got from Walmart for $10.00

Re: Bulge was too big
No problem with bulging, or printing, when I use my CrossBreed SuperTuck. The only problem is my wife bruising her fingers when she takes a playful whack at me! This happened twice at Brookshires today. She walked by and tried to swat me on the right side...and smacked my gun. A few minutes later I said something that made her take another swat at me. She learned from her first mistake and swatted me on the left side...and hit my spare mag. She never learns. I told her that anywhere she wants to take a swat at me is probably occupied by a flashlight, knife, Leatherman Tool, gun, or spare mag. She needs to be nicer to me.

Re: Bulge was too big
I also carry a Glock 22 with no problem. Before you throw in the towel and switch guns consider some options. If you like the gun you have and you can shoot it well, then modify other variables to make it concealable. You have a great holster (I use the same one). Why not try to find clothing options that will conceal what you like to carry. I realize everyone is different and that my ideas my not work for you. That being said I find that if I wear a cotton T Shirt with a un tucked button up collared shirt over it I can conceal my big Glock all day everyday. I have practiced and practiced garment moving to access my gun. I will continue to rehearse to keep my muscle memory fresh. Hope this helps

I've been carrying my G21 for a week or so now and haven't been arrested yet. I'm sure I'll get the G30 eventually, but every now and then thoughts of just going with the 21 for my regular carry creep into my head.

That's what she said. The solution is better clothing choices. Dress to hide bulges you don't want to show off.
