Hey all. Quickie question... Over the weekend, I noticed a gentleman with a pair of suspenders that looked quite functional. The rear portion did not clip to the belt, instead, there was plastic piece with an opening to slide the belt through. The front portion did appear to snap/fasten to the pants. I was going to approach the guy and ask him where he got them, but it was in a sea of people...and the Army/Navy store was closed yesterday so couldn't check there.
So I'd thought I'd ask while I wait to continue my search...is anyone familiar with these suspenders and/or know where I can obtain them? Or even what the 'style' is referred to as and I'll search the net. Thanks!!

Another type ...
Thru an outfit called Duluth Trading Company, I found some side-clip suspenders that I really like. They are clip type, but only 2 clips, at the sides. In fact, the first time I wore them at a match, people behind me thought I had a shoulder holster on! Anyway, if you want to follow up let me know and I'll get you some contact information. They are mostly about work clothes and gear for carpenters, etc.
Thanx,
TraCoun

Cool. Appreciate the reply!
I found a place called Workmans Clothing Shop or something like that just ordered three different types of suspenders. Two use different types of fasteners and the other is a set of Perry Susepnders. I believe one with the fasteners is designed to be worn without a belt. But I'm going to give these a shot and see what I like.

TraCoun is right about the Duluth Trading Co. Side Clip suspenders being comfortable.
Since I will never get around to doing a patent. I'll share my secret project with all of you. I don't like suspenders that clip on the pants, they slip off and tear up the waist band.
So I modified a pair of Duluth Side Clips. I removed the clips and replaced them with leather loops that my belt goes through.
Since that time I've had an idea that is easier. Remove the outside portion of the clip and the ears it attaches to (dremel, hacksaw, whatever)
That will leave only a metal tab that was the back half of the clip. Now you can rivit or chicago screw a leather loop to that tab for your belt to go through.
This way the suspenders hold up your belt and they won't come unhooked.
Good luck, OE

Their clip has a stout pin that pierces the fabric and doesn't allow the clip to slip. I haven't noticed any damage to slacks or jeans from the pin.
They also offer a line of belt-loop less jeans designed for wear with suspenders only (for you slimmer guys, anyway).
I bought two pairs of Perry suspenders, now I have one pair.Big Calhoun wrote:Perry Suspenders - appear to have some sort of opening to latch (not fasten) onto the belt.
Their clip is plastic and hooks over the belt from the bottom. It was not designed to work well on very thick belts, so it tends to slide off.
At a most inopportune time, the rear clip came off the belt and the rear section splashed into the toilet.
At one time, I even bought a couple pairs of white suspenders. They make them for bakers and even the leather is white. My intention was to wear them over my undershirt, but under my top shirt. It turned out to be impractical, as restroom stalls quite often don't have clothes hooks for the top shirt and trying to unhook and rehook them without removing the top shirt was problematic.
