Something to consider, some post the 30.06 sign not because they dont want guns in their establishment, but they dont want bloodshed. If someone hop skips into a bank and hands a teller a note, non violent, Joe Chlo could whip his pistol out and shed some blood. Most companies have a no hero policy, the money and items are insured, let the perp go to prevent escalation.

I shy away from gun busters but I do see the other POV.

Explain to the bank manager that you carry cash deposits or withdrawals and need the personal protection so you have to withdraw your money.
Many years ago I closed out a account and got my $36 back because a teller seeing my file called another one over to laugh at it. Two days later that bank failed.

Actually there was a robbery [or attempted robbery] at the drive-in window at JSC credit union a few years ago. I have an
account there, but do everything on-line so I have never been in their building.

The bank has done nothing to dishonor his 2nd amendment right. It has exercised its own right to determine on what terms people may enter its private property. I think the proper response is to tell the manager, that you are unwilling to accept those terms and therefore will not be entering into the bank's private property.

Its funny but I have found around here most actual banks don't post (there are a few that do) but most credit unions do. I moved my account from a credit union to a bank just for that reason.

I had to go to the bank Tuesday to open a business account and was carrying @ 4:00 OWB. When we went into the bankers office to do the paperwork, I sat down and my gun hit the wodden arm of the chair making a rather loud thud. I looked at the banker and he said that was one tough cell phone and winked at me. As we were waiting on his computer to do its thing he asked what I carried and we got into about a 20 minute conversation about guns.

I understand the argument, just as I understand most anti-gunner's arguments... that still doesn't make them or it right. So until criminals carry signs that (honestly)identify them as violent or not, that particular arguments is as helpful as dog poop on your shoe. Unfortunately insurance can't replace me or mine and criminals often shoot the witnesses. Therefore, I bank, shop and frequent places where I can carry, and avoid those where I can't carry. There are exceptions, but they are few.

When I first went to work at Alcatel, they had a "captive" branch of a credit union right on campus, and it was very convenient to direct deposit, and then walk in to cash a check while on a ten minute break. When Alcatel moved me to a different building, I began to go to the local off site branch, but saw their 30.06 sign and wrote to them objecting to their policy and removing all of my accounts. I got a call from the branch manager (not high enough up as far as I was concerned, although her title was "Vice President") asking me to come in and talk about it. I consented to go in, stated my issues, countered her "safety of the employees and customers" bafflegab, and still removed my accounts. FWIW, she said she actually agreed with me, but "corporate policy . . ." at which point I told her that as she was a Vice President it was my opinion that the first step to changing back corporate policy was referring issues through the chain of command along with the effective arguments against such policies, and that was the end of it.

A short while later that credit union became a bank, and the signs came down, but I still don't do business there, but it makes me wonder why credit unions?

The newest branch of JSC Federal Credit Union (Pineloch & Clear Lake City Blvd) just put one up.

I disarmed myself and went in to deposit my check. When I asked about the sign, I was told that it was "Federal Policy" and that it was the same "federal regulation as schools, churches, and bars". What's funny is the teller, Ross, told me that he had a CHL himself; I guess he must have fallen asleep in class. He also had the nerve to tell me that he "viewed me as a threat" if I was armed, and that is what the sign was for.

The game warden working overtime began to eavesdrop on our conversation, but I wasn't having any of it and closed both of my accounts then and there, I felt like an absolute criminal in my own bank. I thanked the warden for his understanding in not getting involved on my way out, and he just smiled and said "that's your right".

I'll be letting my family and close friends know about this, my mother (CHL holder) and father (Veteran, retired Federal Agent and CHL holder) have already told me that their accounts will be moved from JSC by next week.

Here is a photo of the sign, I'll be cross posting this to the other website mentioned earlier.

'round here it's the other way....banks post and Credit Unions don't, pretty much the same in Austin too.

I've heard that argument. I'm not buying it.

1. When was the last incident where a citizen was in a bank, gun fire broke out and that citizen with his personal firearm wounded or killed an innocent? I'm not saying that it cannot happen. I can get hit by a meteorite, too, but the likelihood goes way right of the decimal point in the odds scale. I don't have any statistics to back it up by my guess would be that customers of banks get shot by robbers more than 10x more often than any citizen shoots anyone but a BG.

2. In most places that I go, I figure that my odds of needing to protect myself are greater during the walk from the parking lot to the building than inside the building itself. When was the last time that you saw a news story about someone getting attacked INSIDE of a Wal-Mart while there are dozens of stories in Wal-Mart parking lots. I don't see the bank situation differently from a customer perspective. Disarm me inside and I'm also disarmed on the way inside.

3. The bank (or any other business) is welcome to make decisions about how they want to control their environment. But when they take away my right to defend myself, they don't assume any liability to fill that gap. They are hoping that the BG does no harm to customers or employees but if they guessed wrong, there are no consequences to them. That is a loose-loose deal for me. That is one of the main reasons that I don't frequent posted businesses besides my aversion to giving money to anti-gun organizations.
