Actually there was a robbery [or attempted robbery] at the drive-in window at JSC credit union a few years ago. I have anThe Annoyed Man wrote:Until you can get the money transferred to another bank, use the drive-in window.
The bank has done nothing to dishonor his 2nd amendment right. It has exercised its own right to determine on what terms people may enter its private property. I think the proper response is to tell the manager, that you are unwilling to accept those terms and therefore will not be entering into the bank's private property.RJGold wrote:Ask to speak to the manager and let them know that since they don't honor your 2nd ammendment right, you'll be taking your money somewhere else.
You should tell us what bank... sounds like a few of us need a good one.RPBrown wrote:Its funny but I have found around here most actual banks don't post (there are a few that do) but most credit unions do. I moved my account from a credit union to a bank just for that reason.
I had to go to the bank Tuesday to open a business account and was carrying @ 4:00 OWB. When we went into the bankers office to do the paperwork, I sat down and my gun hit the wodden arm of the chair making a rather loud thud. I looked at the banker and he said that was one tough cell phone and winked at me. As we were waiting on his computer to do its thing he asked what I carried and we got into about a 20 minute conversation about guns.
I understand the argument, just as I understand most anti-gunner's arguments... that still doesn't make them or it right. So until criminals carry signs that (honestly)identify them as violent or not, that particular arguments is as helpful as dog poop on your shoe. Unfortunately insurance can't replace me or mine and criminals often shoot the witnesses. Therefore, I bank, shop and frequent places where I can carry, and avoid those where I can't carry. There are exceptions, but they are few.FastCarry wrote:Something to consider, some post the 30.06 sign not because they dont want guns in their establishment, but they dont want bloodshed. I shy away from gun busters but I do see the other POV.
When I first went to work at Alcatel, they had a "captive" branch of a credit union right on campus, and it was very convenient to direct deposit, and then walk in to cash a check while on a ten minute break. When Alcatel moved me to a different building, I began to go to the local off site branch, but saw their 30.06 sign and wrote to them objecting to their policy and removing all of my accounts. I got a call from the branch manager (not high enough up as far as I was concerned, although her title was "Vice President") asking me to come in and talk about it. I consented to go in, stated my issues, countered her "safety of the employees and customers" bafflegab, and still removed my accounts. FWIW, she said she actually agreed with me, but "corporate policy . . ." at which point I told her that as she was a Vice President it was my opinion that the first step to changing back corporate policy was referring issues through the chain of command along with the effective arguments against such policies, and that was the end of it.RPBrown wrote:Its funny but I have found around here most actual banks don't post (there are a few that do) but most credit unions do. 'round here it's the other way....banks post and Credit Unions don't, pretty much the same in Austin too.RPBrown wrote:Its funny but I have found around here most actual banks don't post (there are a few that do) but most credit unions do. I've heard that argument. I'm not buying it.FastCarry wrote:Something to consider, some post the 30.06 sign not because they dont want guns in their establishment, but they dont want bloodshed.
