Well for starters she is ok with my collection as it is. Though I am hoping to get her to the range next weekend and see about working that angle. First time for her to shoot anything beyond a pellet rifle. So I hope that will get things going.Liberty wrote: When I went to buy my first handgun, to pursue my CHL, and to carry out into the world she would ask "Do you really have to?" My response has been; "Its not that I have a need to, Its not that think I'm in danger, Its not that I believe that I will ever need to use it. It is important that I carry simply because I can! For some reason she understands that. With me its all about the Cotton Stand
In the mean time she has learned to shoot, and always has a handgun handy around the house even if she doesn't carry when she steps out.
Part of it is that I can't carry during the normal work week. At least not to and from work. But I know that I can't but I would other times that I don't have to worry about not being able to keep it in my car.

She may not be interested, but if you could get her to come to the TexasCHLforum Day at PSC on Sept. 29, that may change her mind. We have a number of classroom seminars, as well as shooting clinics for people of all skill levels from novice to downright-amazing.
I believe she would really like two of the seminars; Awareness taught by TexasCHLforum member SRVA and Ladies Issues taught by CompVest. Both of those seminars deal with personal security issues and are are not purely gun related. They are always well-received.
There are other seminars and shooting clinics that I believe she would fine entertaining and educational, but I understand that getting her interested might be a problem. You're not the first husband to face this challenge.
Perhaps some of our lady members could offer some suggestions. Better yet, do you think your wife would be willing to talk to some of our lady members to get their perspective on the event?
Chas.

Any decent holster for a Colt Officers Model 3 1/2" 1911 will fit your Star PD perfectly. Be sure you specify whether your Taurus is a Millenium or a Millenium Pro as some of the critical holster dimensions are different.

My wife and her sister go shopping all the time. Many times from dusk till dawn. I recently received my CHL and while she likes the idea of me carrying she does not seem interested in getting her license.
The other night I prodded her once again about getting it. She replied that she did not need it, "wasn't going to happen to her." etc.
I looked at her and told her that she was the most important thing in the word to me (I covered my guns ears so they wouldn't hear) and that I did not want to loose her to some wacko. Furthermore there are crazies out there that want to kill, rob, rape and steal and that she has no way of knowing when and where these creatures will attack. I told her that she puts herself in a dangerous position each and every time she leaves the house and I want her to be safe.
As an example I said, when you and your sister go shopping real early and stay out late, (I am starting to loose her at this point, so I bring her crashing back to reality with my next question) Have you and your sister discussed which one of you is going to be raped first if you get attacked?
She is going to sign up for the next class.

Shopping centers and shopping malls are some of the worst places. Predators know that there are lots of ladies at these places, and most of them are unarmed. Many will not fight them either.Longtooths wrote:As an example I said, when you and your sister go shopping real early and stay out late, (I am starting to loose her at this point, so I bring her crashing back to reality with my next question) Have you and your sister discussed which one of you is going to be raped first if you get attacked?

I'm also a dawn-to-dusk shopper; that's one of the reasons I got my CHL.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

Waiters and waitresses need to be observant as well. Crooks know that they get paid "tips" in cash....and a person walking to their vehicle "after hours" can make an easy target for them.
