I am looking into getting my chl, and was wondering what the laws were regarding schools. I keep seeing many things about its ok as long as you do not go in and such.

My problem is I work for a school district, and I am wondering if it is possible to leave it secured in my car during the work day as long as there is no policy by my employer restricting specifically to employees. I guess all else I could just park next door and walk a little further each day.

Just looking for a little guidance because if I can not leave it in my car then if I go anywhere after work then I am out of luck.

You can legally leave it in your car as long as your car doesn't enter the building

Well I remembered where the employee handbook is, and looks bad for me. I guess like others have experienced. The public can do it but employees cant

Do they regularly have school sponsored activities going on the parking lot?

Sounds to me like you are good to go.

I would just make double sure that I was never in a position where the weapon might be seen. Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it.

It looks to me that you are good to go for leaving it locked up in your car. The policy pretty much sums it that that its OK in the parking lot. Just don't bring it inside.

Amazing, they got it right. Pretty much quoted the law and didn't "interpret" personal views into it. I'm impressed!

It does, if a school sponsered event is taking place. For example, if a HS band is practicing marching on the lot, or if a 'field day' uses the lot.

Texas Penal Code:
PC §46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED. (a) A person commits
an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses
or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon
listed in Section 46.05(a):
(1) on the physical premises of a school or educational institution,
any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or
educational institution is being conducted, or a passenger transportation
vehicle of a school or educational institution, whether the school or
educational institution is public or private, unless pursuant to written
regulations or written authorization of the institution;

(1) "Premises" has the meaning assigned by Section 46.035.

PC §46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE
HOLDER.
(3) "Premises" means a building or a portion of a building. The
term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk
or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

The should be covered in detail in your CHL class, and there is a test question that specifically addresses this issue.
Your employee handbook has quoted the penal code exactly. That seems to me to be a very clear indication that they are telling you it is OK to keep a firearm locked in your car, without saying those words.

Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it. I could just ask them how they feel about it. I will probably just go with the wording of the law says ok and no one will ever know anyways because I will not tell and it will be concealed in my car as it should be.

You don't have to wait until you are 21 to take the class. You could take it now. You just have to wait until you are 21 to submit the application.
