Well all, i hope this is the right place for it, but I'm new to this forum, and to CHL. I just got it in the mail yesterday
I am not new to shooting or firearms, and I'm glad to be on here. I look forward to interacting with everyone, this seems like a really good forum with lots of information!
As for carry pieces, I currently have two. A Bersa Thunder .380 (although I intend this as a BUG). My other is a Wilson Combat ADP.

Yup! I did it yesterday!
I think the thing that is going to be the hardest for me is realizing that nobody cares about what I'm doing or is looking at me. I'm self-conscious about it, but I don't think anyone notices at all. That will just take a bit of time to get used to. I did, however, have to go do some work late last night at a facility we have in a
very rough area of Dallas, and it was nice to have the security blanket with me for a change.

People don't care, they don't notice, they don't want to know. Even if they did, we only need to conceal for the casual observer, not the trained observer (whatever that means). A bump under your shirt is not brandishing. The wind blowing your jacket open is not brandishing. Your jacket getting caught behind your pistol handle while in the car and then walking around is brandishing so be careful but as long as you are making a good faith effort to conceal, your are honky-dory.
The times you need to be good at concealing is when you are in a place that may not appreciate you being armed even if it's not posted or restricted. A friends house, church, non-secure area of an airport, things like that.
Welcome to the pool, the water's fine.

Mostly C# and T-SQL. I do occasionally have to venture into C++, J2EE, or VB, but I avoid those whenever possible! Do you code as well?

I claim to be a DBA and do MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL mostly, but I have been known to do some PHP and C# as well.

Welcome to the forum.
I know what you talking about with being self conscious. I am 6'-4" 250lbs and still have a 38" waste 54" chest at 52. I have always been self conscious and tried to blend in. After serving many years as an LEO in the younger days I still felt akward when I started carrying concealed. I am over that now and feel naked without it. You will soon be there.
The water is fine in this pool, but beware of the breed of shark called the Senior Member some of them can be hazardous.
Just kidding there are great caring people here that will bend over backward to help you with your new indeavor.
Good luck and stay safe.

Yeah, I got mine last week also-- it took almost EXACTLY 8 weeks from payment and mailing in the forms, until I got my card--
I haven't settled on a primary carry--
I usually keep the XD45 and HP995 in the truck, and I keep the PT111 and/or a Jennings (DOn't laugh, it is dead on reliable) on my person...
Congrats!!!
