That's an excellent article. I'm happy to see one from a different perspective; i.e. someone who decided to get another tool, in this case a gun. I think your approach will be well received by many people who have never really thought about the utility of a gun and/or who felt a little intimidated by their lack or knowledge and the prospects of finding a "gunny" to teach them.

Good job!
Chas.

This is one of the better writeups I have ever seen on the subject. Very good for introducing a newbie to firearms.

If you are open to suggestions, I would like to see videos describing a few of the actions you have already explained with words. I recorded this youtube video really quick just to show what I had in mind, especially for the section in part 3 where you are attempting to explain the very basic gun functions in a gun store.

I hope you don't mind me butting in like that, but I see this as a very viable resource for me to introduce the idea to friends and family, and would like to see it succeed.

Good Job,
I have only read the first 2 sections so far, but as near as I can tell you have done an excellent job covering a lot of territory.

Outstanding! I think you are right on about how non "gun people" can be intimidated by the whole thing. I sincerely hope your blog catches on and gets more people like you to make the leap into taking responsibility for their own protection.
