I haven't received my online application back, but I've taken my class... I can't even actually APPLY yet! LOL
I had a CHL in ND before I moved to Texas, but I let it expire and finally got around to getting it done again.

Oh, I see you're from DFW. That's better than Harris. "Hurricane Ike" will be the excuse for Harris County until 2010.

is the infrastructure mess up being blamed for the background checks taking forever or something?

The system, in general, is already backed up, some suggest due to poor management. It has been said that, specifically, Harris County apps are taking longer because DPS states that there is a delay in getting background checks from Harris. I, for one, think that DPS is going to use any excuse they can to explain why things are taking longer other than "we're just really, really, really backed up."
