Locker room concealment

Some of y'all may know that I am a long distance runner. So that means that I have done all of my workouts with the luxury of getting ready at home or in other private locations and then heading out for several hours of running. Well, in an effort to move up to 50k and 50mile races, I have decided that I need to get some weight lifting time in addition to all of the trail and road miles I log. So here comes the question:
How do I conceal IN the locker room? Specifically how do I get changed? I think that carrying while I am lifting weights just won't work (although I can do it when I run). Do I need to take a bathroom stall break before and after working out and strap on in there or are there other ideas? Today (and most days) I am carrying a 1911 OWB strong side with a spare mag in the front left pocket.

Bathroom stall may be your best bet there. I can't really htink of anything else other than leaving it in the car and re-arming there.

You can always wear a "butt pack". I see alot of them in the gym, yep even women!
If you are paranoid about the "butt pack" hang a cheap set of earphones on it. Aaah, must be an MP3 player!

The couple of times I have run into this situation, as a recreational swimmer, I used the stall and wrapped the gun in a towel or something to carry it back and forth.

DO you carry a gym bag that gets placed in a locker? Place the weapon in the bag before you leave the car.

I currently leave mine secured in my vehicle at this time. I have considered a "fanny pack" for this type of occasion though. But for now I just re-arm post work out.

Up north, at the gym I belonged to, I would do my load/unload rituals in the corner of an unused racquetball court. There was little way for people to see inside. The only bad part is in racking the slide on a semi-automatic pistol, it is a little difficult to disguise the sound, which can echo strongly in a racquetball court. I was never confronted about the practice by management or another member, nor did I have a ND or anything else, though I suspect some people figured out that I took my personal safety much more seriously than the average NYS resident.

I use this at the gym with weights, push-ups and even jumping rope because it is such a secure hold.

Just today I noticed my gym has small letters on each entrance stating something to the effect of: "Lifetime Fitness bans handguns on these premesis." HeHe!!
I don't plan to point out the issue.

I wouldn't point it out either. And mine isn't posted at all (YMCA).

I just joined LA Fitness. Dispite the namesake with a rather Anti-gun city, none of the locations around me are posted, so they got my business. The location right near where i work even has nice lockable lockers (with keys, not padlocks) as well as semi-private dressing areas making it easier to arm/disarm before and after workouts.

Problem is that you were given the policy in writting when you joined. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but it might if you get caught. I'm a member of lifetime too and that policy was on the membership agreement or policy form of some sort that we signed when we joined. If it wern't for the fact that the rest of the family really wanted to join, i would have stuck with Balley's. On the other hand, i see police in and out of there all of the time wiht their firearms, so i guess it is not really enforced.

Yes I was given the policy but it is still ineffective to a CHL as it does not meet 30.06 requirements for written notification.
Their policy states: " No weapons of any kind (as may be determined by Life Time Fitness in its sole disretion), including but not limited to Firearms, are allowed in any area of Life Time Fitness at any time for any reason.
I guess I'll leave the Benchmade in the truck now too. Ha!

It is kinda like the employer policy, but not as potentially damaging. If you get something like that from your employer, and they find out that you are carrying anyway, they can fire you but they cannot file trespassing charges as they never gave you the legal notification.
I would imagine that the gym could ask you not to return, but they can't press charges either.
