A NICS check is nothing like the background checks for the CHL. IIRC, every place you've lived or worked in requires a check in person from a field officer. If any of those locations do not have a DPS office, then an officer must be sent to that county to run the checks with the county sheriff's office. In addition, there's the federal background check with the FBI.Ken73 wrote:Nope, I called and they said "we're still waiting on a background check."
What's stupid is my NICS check goes through instantly with a "proceed" every time. We've bought about 14 guns in the last few months and every last one goes through instantly. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason either - I've seen others that take 7 months + and some get theirs in 60 days.
