Just found this forum from THF site. Like what I see with the information provided here. I will be will be reading alot and posting very little as there are those on this forum with far more factual information and experience than I. With that, I have a question.

I have been thinking off and on for over a year now about getting a CHL. With the current political attmosphere would you go ahead and get one or just wait till things change(maybe)? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Dean. Your statement about many knowledgeable and experienced people here is tag on. We are very blessed to have the membership we have.

As for getting your CHL, I think anyone who is interested should investigate the possibility. Once you feel you are ready for it, then don't waste any time. We are under a new leadership who does not share our views on 2A rights. Who knows what is coming. If they did decide to suspend issuing licenses for some terrible reason, having a license in hand might at least allow you to be grandfathered. That is my thought anyway.

I agree with KeithB on making sure that you are ready before getting your CHL. That being said, this IS a great place to learn before jumping in. Of course knowing that our strength lies in our numbers, I encourage anyone who feels ready, to go ahead and get their CHL.

My suggestion is a little different the others.
I say go ahead and get your CHL because we dont know what the future holds for us. Then carry when you feel you are ready to carry. Nowhere in law does it say that you must carry because you have a CHL but future laws may prevent you from getting one.

That remains to be seen. It all depends on the actual law, as passed and signed. It also depends on whether any law that did so would survive a constitutionality challenge. The best course, IMHO, would be to oppose such a bill and enlist support in keeping it from being enacted.

Hopefully it will never come to revocation of existing CHL laws. However, if the federal government pushed hard enough, the states might cave and who knows what they would do; whether it be no new CHL's or even go as far as revocation of the CHL completely.

I fully understand that point of view but what if they just say no new ones can be issued but current ones are still legal? Then that would be another case of shootin yer self in the foot.\
My way of thinking is it is better to get it now and lose it later than to wish you would have got it when you could.

Oh Yeah...one more thing to add.....

Get it now and you will also help to add strength to our "Fight for OUR RIGHTS" by adding another number to the good side.
