There is frequently discussion on holsters, but much less on proper belts. I'd like to note-get a gun belt! I did not think this was an issue until this forum. As a result, I procured a 1 1/2 in bullhide double stitched belt from the Beltman. The difference in carry is impressive. You really don't realize how much a regular belt will drag and cant, but a proper gunbelt evens the load, doesn't feel lopsided, etc. There are several manufacturers out there.

I use mine as a normal belt for office/nonoffice wear. It holds MTACs and sliders without difficulty. I would note one additional thing-due to their stiffness and lack of give, you might consider getting one size larger than you think you need.

Good review on belts in general. To all new to carry. Gear is as good as you pay for & it takes the whole combo.
Quality gunbelt & quality holster together will aford comfortable, stable, & concealable carry.

Based on othe recommendations of others and my rather impecunious state, I ordered a Coyote Brown Tactical 5.11 Trainer belt from http://www.LApolicegear.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . I'm so impressed with the belt and the service, my second one in black should arrive today. As this is being written, this belt is holding up a fully loaded Springfield XD .45 Service in a Don Hume First Agent holster - as well as my britches.

I have the same belt you have from the Beltman and it is by far the best belt I have ever had. It took me awhile to finally break down and buy a quality belt and holster...all the difference in the world!! As Longtooth said a quality belt and holster= stability, concealability, and comfort.

I should note, in case its not clear (aka KISS), the "balance part" means the weight is evenly distributed. What may way heavily with a normal belt, feels much lighter in one of these, and gives you a feeling of stability-everythings not leaning heavily on the pistol side.

In early February, my wife placed an order for new belts for the both of us, and after researching the issue, she selected thebeltman. They came in middle of last week (about 6 weeks turnaround time) and I'm thrilled with these belts. I had a pretty decent gunbelt before, but it was so thick that it was actually a chore to work it through the loops in my jeans, so I was looking forward to trying out a new belt.

The 1.5" bullhide belt from thebeltman is thin enough that it is easy to put on, but it's firm and rigid, and I'm just loving it. I've been carrying my 3" 1911 with a Comptac Minotaur for the past week and really could not be happier.

Summary: thebeltman.net is HIGHLY recommended.

I know I noticed a world of difference when I got my belt. It was a gift. Up until then I had been using the thickest belt I could buy from a store. I found one that worked decent but it wasn't the best. As has been stated above, a good belt is very important. I think almost as important as the holster itself.

I agree that a good belt is as important as the holster itself. I had a good holster (MTAC) and after going through several belts I finally bought a belt from thebeltman and I could not be more satisfied, in fact, it is the same belt that TheArmedFarmer bought.

I bought the belt from Crossbreed http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/belt.html. Very substantial. I am very happy with it. I am glad that my mother didn't have one when I was growing up!! I might not be here today!

What do you guys think of "ballistic nylon" belts, that hook together with velcro instead of traditional buckles? Like the one below:

That looks like a Tactical 5.11 Trainer's Belt? Actually, they have a carbinier (sp?) belt buckle with velcro on the tabs. I have two of 'em and they hold up a fully loaded XD .45 Service or a full size, fully loaded 1911 and my britches quite comfortably and quite economically. If that's not the answer to your question, please excuse me.

I wear one of these rigger belts daily for work. They work great for OWB carry as you can cinch them up and the velcro works great when the belt is new, especially when you run the belt through the buckle. I don't like them for IWB as the J-hooks I use cause the belt to bend and the hooks slip. They are great range belts and OWB carry belts in my opinion but as you already know not for dress-up.

The really cool people wear braces (suspenders) for dress up.
