'nother Newbie

Just found this forum this morning and am about to spend a pot of coffee perusing it. Don't have my CHL yet. And not too happy right now.

3/22/09 - class at Carter's Country
3/23/09 - packet mailed
5/11/09 - received PIN via snail
5/26/09 - incomplete application because the passport photo taken at Carter's Country was too light

The young fellow I spoke with at DPS said it was not an uncommon problem. And it will just about start me over at the back of the line.

But I look forward to reading and maybe contributing something occasionally to this forum. Thanks to the admins for making it available.

Welcome aboard! You can certainly spend more than 1 pot of coffee
here reading about gun stuff!

Thanks for putting your hometown in your profile - all the easier for your
neighbors to recognize you.

Inquiring minds want to know - what gun(s) do you have and what will
be your carry gun?

Surely your screen name doesn't mean you will be carrying a .243 rifle?
LOL

Thanks for the welcome. 243 in my screen name is the hull number of one of the submarines I was on in the late 50s. Years ago when I first joined the innarwebz I tried to use my name on some BBS, forum or whatever and there were already several Myrons. So I just added the 243. Also found out a few numerals in an email address slows down the bot generated spam sent to every known name in the universe at every known ISP.

Bedroom gun is a Remington 12 ga pump, family room/car gun is a S&W 915 and pocket gun is a S&W 642. I'll probably add a few. Change out my pocket gun like my wife changes her purse

Hey Myron. Glad to have you aboard.

I have great respect for you silent service guys. I was an AT in Tomcats on the Constellation.

I've always thought I'd like a 12g for the house. A couple years back I saw that Benelli semi-auto on a show called "Mail Call" and thought that would be a great gun. Still do, but haven't been able to justify the cost yet.

Hey Myron, I served on Ten-Cans in the late 50s...USS Mansfield DD-728. We use to play cat and mouse with ya'll for days at a time. We were stationed out of Long Beach, CA.

We may have played chase in WesPac in early '58 or mid '59. BREAM's home port was Pearl.
