Question about carry w/ out CHL

I am still waiting on plastic 1/12/09...
I work as a mobile DJ. I was wondering if the being able to conceal at home/car/work thing applys to me? I hate loading and unloading $4k worth of stuff unarmed, and this weekend I have a wedding to do on the crap side of San Antonio.
The other thing, it is at an old house turned bed and breakfast, so could I ask the owner of the property if I could carry on his land and be covered for the walk to and from the truck and his land (15 steps)?
Any thoughts?

If you don't have a CHL, the landowner's permission is irrelevant.

I thought if you were on your property you could carry concealed, and I thought you could extend that privilege to carry to anybody on your property regardless of CHL.
I am very new to this so I have no clue. Don't be affraid to call me stupid and tell me to be quiet, I deserve it from time to time.

Correct.

No such luck.
But it would make sense, right? A landowner can make it illegal for someone (even someone with a CHL) to carry on the property by revoking consent and giving notice. So logic and fairness says a landowner should be able to make it legal for someone (even someone without a CHL) to carry on the property by granting consent and giving notice. The thing is, the law doesn't have to be logical or fair.

How about this. You are allowed to open carry from the house to the car and from the car to your place of business. Would the bed and breakfast be your place of business?
Just a thought and my $0.02 worth.

Under what law? (Assuming you're not the business owner/manager.)

I didn't think about that, not being owner/manager. I don't know where I read about house to car and car to business, but if you had permission to carry, would it make a difference if you were an employee or owner?
I'm looking for answers, too.

I see "on the person’s own premises or premises under the person’s control" in 46.02 but I don't see anything about permission.
I'd love to be proven wrong. It would be great to have a BBQ in a friend's backyard with everyone carrying openly because we have permission from the home owner.

Is it different if you are hunting on the landowner's property (with their permission of course)? With a handgun?

I open carry and clean my HG in my backyard, in my house. No issue. I never asked about carrying on others properties if not hunting. However, at one friends, I disarmed and stowed my pistol in a closet at the request of the host.

Just make it a BBQ and invitational IDPA match and you're covered under the "Engaging in a sporting activity in which guns..." clause.

My wfe and I attend social functions and I ask the host. Yes, I attend unarmed maybe 1 of 50 times at the request of the host, but I ask and wait to be told no. Then I leave it in the truck.
Without a CHL question - don't keep it on ya! PLEASE! And follow the rules even though you don't have the plastic. Please don't hurt our cause.
