Addresses on Application
My husband took his CHL class today and is in the process of filling out the application. We've come to a stumbling block, though: his permanent address has always been the one where his family lived even while he was in college. While at college he was assigned an "address" and mailbox number for purposes of receiving mail. Must he list this address on his application or does his permanent address hold as his "only" address while he was in school?
Wondering because he never used his school address for anything and it seems like it would flag his application if he lists two addresses for the same time period.
Thanks much!

Re: Addresses on Application
I'm pretty new here and this is just an educated guess. They want to know where you lived so they can do a records check in that county. I'd just put down where you physically resided.

Re: Addresses on Application
He had a permanent address at his parent's home. He does not need to list his school address.

Re: Addresses on Application
We asked around and were told to include the college address since he "lived" there and to also include it on employment because they want it "in case he shoots up a college or something". Yeah. Anyway the packet's put together and complete so we're mailing it either today or tomorrow. Yay!

Re: Addresses on Application
I would not have included it if I had no incidents (i.e. record) there. DPS will do a background check in any location you list. If there is nothing there and you list it, they will check it. It only multiplies the chance that something will delay your application.

Re: Addresses on Application
He doesn't have a record at any address but his parent's from when he got a speeding ticket in high school. That's it.
We still listed it because the instructor who we initially asked came back and said we should list the college since he technically had lived there. I don't think it'll cause delay because there's nothing for them to find. It was more a worry of omitting something that shouldn't be omitted rather than a "I don't want to list it, should I?" sort of thing. :)
We mailed it yesterday so now the waiting game begins!

I told him he should. He said he probably will. I'm considering registering for him, but I'll let him do it himself. He's a big boy now. ;) hehe
