Attorney recommendations?

I've been doing a lot of reading lately (Massad Ayoob), and one thing he states is that you should find a good competent attorney that specializes in civilian self-defense issues, and keep his business card in your wallet in case you ever have to defend yourself. I've also read that it's a good idea to do this BEFORE you might need said attorney, because you don't want to be thumbing through the yellow pages at 2:00 am after shooting a bad guy in self defense.

Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with someone in the north Dallas area? I've done some web searches and found some law firms that you can put on retainer for about $100/yr. However, I don't want to just select someone randomly based on Google.

I know that TMPA often uses a hot shot DWI lawyer around here to represent officers that have been involved in something at our dept. While it's ironic (because he is ferocious during cross and re-cross exam) he is great at his job.

Also - many times DWI lawyers are very familiar with police investigations IMHO.

Don't know any names though. See who officers in your area are using.

I just signed up with these folks: http://www.chlpp.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I figure for $129 isn't that much and it would be very worth it if something ever did happen (heaven forbid).
