My first day carrying

I got my plastic today! I originally took the course at Red's i P-ville four or five years ago, but never sent in the app. My twin daughters were born shortly after, and I couldn't spare the app fee. So, I took the course again, and waited nearly a year to send it in, but it is all done now!
I went home at lunch, and my plastic was in. So, since my crossbreed is still not here, I untucked my shirt, and slid on my Tagua OWB quick draw and dropped in my Armscor 3.5" .45 and went back to work. I definitely need a gun belt. I have the "noassatol" disorder, and even with a 1.5 inch wide belt, it is slipping a bit. I don't think I'm printing at all, and after 6 hours, no one mentioned anything. Almost every one at my work carries, too, so I wanted to try here first.
Bending and lifting might show the muzzle of the pistol, so I am anxiously waiting for my supertuck. I also ended up running my belt over the outside of the holster to try and keep the grip closer to my body- this belt is twisting a bit. I think it helped.
I am wearing it at about 5:30, body-position wise. and need to practice drawing from that far back. It also took me a couple hours to feel comfy enough to rack one and go to "cocked and locked". Pics to follow, but all in all, everything has gone fine. Sitting isn't near the problem I thought it would be!

Congrats! I'm jealous. I was only a couple of days behind you and can't believe my status still shows "Application Processing".
How comfortable was the 5:30 position while sitting in your vehicle? I would think you would feel that.
I look forward to hearing what you think once you get the Crossbreed.

Congratulations on receiving your plastic. As they say "concealed is concealed."

AddyLO, I can't believe yours hasn't come in yet. I recently applied with the local PD and went through a very intense background check, was offered the job, but was given a promotion by my current employer, so I turned the PD down. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
It was actually VERY comfortable back there. I also thought I would have to remove it, but I guess the way I sit in the seat leaves a nice space for it. Spent at least 2 hours in the car, it kinda felt like a pillow back there. I don't think I ever compared a 1911 to a pillow before.....
I went to the bluebonnet festival in Burnet today, wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a new JC Penny St. Johns Bay button down collared short sleeve in 2x Tall untucked. Wore the same holster setup, almost trouble free. I walked around the carnival for hours with the kiddos, almost forgot I had in on me. Even had a cop walking behind me for a while. I wondered if he saw, noticed or cared. My love handles seem to prohibit 3 or 9 o'clock carry IWB or OWB. Gym here I come again.
I am debating getting a left hand holster for small of back OWB. I think it would be easier to draw with the grip facing right, with less movement. Any drawbacks I'm not seeing?
Only trouble I had was at the restaurant later. The chairs had no support at small of back (like a hole), but across the top. When I stood, my pistol hooked and the chair came up with me! Luckily my back was to the wall, no one noticed.

I was there yesterday (Saturday), I walked the whole thing about 8 times, niece was in the parade, I took her, watched parade, took her home, I live walking distance to it. Carried my Glock 26 @ 3:00 and Taurus PT-709 crossdraw about 9:30-ish. Guyabarra shirt unbuttoned, on top of a
Extra Tall J.C. Penney's XXXL Tee-shirt, jeans,
Comp-Tac belt (with Velcro and Kydex reinforced).
Holster http://www.concealedtechnology.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (Comp-Tac C.T.A.C. polymer clips)
8-10 ounce Herman Oaks
leather(SMOOTH side against your gun) with 2-3 ounce horse hide (SMOOTH side against your body) laminated to the front piece
These are better quality than Crossbreed or Kholster IMHO, and smooth side on gun protects finish and prevents "crumbs of leather" while smoothe horsehide against skin avoids discomfort from horsehide sanding the skin. Plus, now that he uses Comp-Tac clips, you can get velcro clips from Comp-tac and they work with my Comp-tac belt with Kydex reinforcement and Velcro
(But when I'm kayaking on the lakes, I use his all kydex
speed clip holsters instead of the
Comfort Carry holsters.)

Congrats. You might find your current belt will work with an IWB. I am similarly built and my 1.5" Carhartt belt works fine. Regardless, find what works for you and carry on.
