I'm new to concealed carry, but I've worn Hawaiian shirts for years. I agree that "photographer's vests" and plain black fanny packs pretty much scream "concealed handgun," (although I doubt how loudly they scream to non-gun types). Anyway, I've never considered a Hawaiian shirt to be a CHL cliche (probably because, as I've said, I've been wearing them for years without carrying), but that seems to be the opinion on this forum. So, do the majority of CC guys automatically think "gun" when they see a Hawaiian shirt? Or is it just a very vocal minority that feels this way? If not a Hawaiian shirt (they're comfy, and the pattern breaks up the gun's print really well), what do folks wear when carrying concealed?

Where does one buy these Hawaiian shirts that we hear so much about?

Nobody notices. Nobody cares. You could dye your hair purple, and probably only your mother would notice.

Cops are not looking for men with Hawaiian shirts or fanny packs. They are looking for these slouching knuckle-draggers wearing gang colors that they are very familiar with.

I order mine off line. I like them because they are much cooler to wear especially in the summer. I have some that have the "print" on them, but I have several that are just solid colors.

Like the OP said I have been wearing mine along time before my CHL. When I was a LEO I wore them off duty. They are very comfortable. My .02.

The only thing Hawaiian shirt screams to me, is COMFORT. People that wear them just look plain comfortable and happy. Of course, they may be heavily armed, and that contributes to the sense. I never think about it much. By the way, what is the preferred Hawaiian print that goes best with a Beretta? Just checking......

The one I usually wear with my Beretta is a dark blue with light blue palm tree print.

Hawaii is a good place.

You can't carry there. Hawaii is as bad as Illinois or New Jersey.

This is a good time of the year to start looking for them on clearance at Penny's or Dillards ect. I usually get them for about 6 to 12 bucks each.

They make them in other prints besides the typical "Hawaiian" prints. I have both.

During the winter I choose to wear solid color ones, or ones without flowery prints on them.

Short sleeve, square cut bottom that are long enough to cover the bottom of the holster by a couple of inches or so, and your good.

I love Hawaiian shirts, but I was wearing them waaay before I got my CHL. I quit caring what people thought about my fashion sense by the time I was about 13.

WOW! Those shirts cost as much as a gun! I'll look in Wal-Mart tomorrow.
