Good accessories for LCP?

I am new to the whole CHL thing (just turned 21 a little while ago, been "under review" for about 2 weeks now :waiting: . My question is, what are the things I should invest in to go along with my concealed carry gun? Right now, I just have the gun (Ruger LCP .380), a pocket holster, and a spare 6 shot magazine. What else would you advise/recommend for being fully prepared? Any suggestions are appreciated! :tiphat:

...a Ruger P90'd be a great addition....OUCH...just tryin' to help...

...any pistol you carry would be well served to have 3-4 magazines close at hand...and a backup gun for if your primary malfunctions or is lost...I won't suggest what that should be, lest you hunt me down and drub me heartily...
...a good light is a must if you carry at night...Home Dippy carries a Mag LED light that puts out around 100 lumens for about $30...runs off 3 AAA batteries...you must see what you're about to shoot...and it's powerful enough to rob the adversary of his night vision...those for starters...welcome and may you never need any of the above...but may you have them close at hand if you do...

I added a Crimson Trace LaserGuard to mine.

LaserLyte makes a sidemount laser for the LCP. It works well without taking away grip area.

I highly recommend the Crimson Trace. I don't like the side lasers because I want to keep it as slim as possible.

More than fancy toys, I would suggest that you first invest in a LOT of ammo and the range time to shoot it. Put a couple of thousand well-practiced rounds through your carry piece and you'll be further ahead of the game than people who haven't spent a lot of trigger time.

Just as importantly, even more so, get in a good defensive handgun course that teaches you more than how to send rounds downrange, at a paper target, while standing still, with no worry of rounds coming at you. Outside of that, practice shooting two handed, one handed with your strong hand, with your weak hand, from the hip, point and shoot, on your back, on your tummy, while moving, and so on. Practicing drawing and shooting after having done so ad nauseum using snap caps.

Most of all, have fun doing it.

You should accessorize it with a really good class on conflict resolution to help insure you never have to draw that gun. Thinking back to when I was 21, that is what would have helped me the most.

I would suggest saving your money and buying another gun that you would enjoy shooting and be able to practice out to 25 yards. The LCP is a very close quarters gun with a terrible trigger although it does suit the purpose for which it was built, IMO the LCP is good as a backup or to throw in the pocket for a quick trip to the local store.

:iagree: I am already contemplating on what to buy for a second, larger, carry gun. I had to go with what I could afford for the time being since I couldn't splurge and get 2 pistols just yet. The LCP was my first choice buy since I can pretty well conceal it no matter what the occasion or clothing. Any recommendations on a second carry gun?

As far as a conflict resolution class, funny that someone should mention that I would benefit from one. I am actually taking one this semester at seminary!

I might recommend a Ruger P95 with decocker for a relatively inexpensive primary carry. It will shoot any flavor of 9mm ammo including +P and +P+.

If you want to spend more than the $300 range, then there are some other fine firearms which I shall let others discuss.
