If Virginia has an age limit, that applies in Virginia even if you get a Texas or Alabama license.

So where did you take your class? And, I have never heard of anyone wanting profile photos. Who asked for those?logan_zugg wrote:Hey im in the US Navy and i am waiting on my background check. And as stated, you will not be able to carry in VA until you're 21.

Re: Under 21 CHL
DPS used to want profile shots for under 21 CHLs, but they got over that a few years ago. Now, they use the regular full face photos.
The instructor was probably just playing it safe by taking both.

He should be legal to carry openly in Virginia.

§ 18.2-308
P. A valid concealed handgun or concealed weapon permit or license issued by another state shall authorize the holder of such permit or license who is at least 21 years of age to carry a concealed handgun in the Commonwealth...

Re: Under 21 CHL
...reasonable that we can't carry with CHL into the hospital...but they also lock you up if they catch you with one in your car...a retired officer drove into the lot...disarmed and put his CHL weapon into the trunk, and they came out and locked him up and took his weapon...charged him with a felony...a lot of the VA hospitals are in bad parts of town...if you have to drive a long ways to get there, you're effectively disarmed from home to there and back...our troops deserve some consideration...
