Designation to Use Your DL Picture
Hi all,
I've heard of people designating the DPS to use their DL picture instead of the sending new passport photos. I couldn't find any information on how to do this and if there are any restrictions. Sooooo....
Can you tell me how you did it, and if you know of any restrictions for using your DL picture i.e. age of the picture, etc.?

Simple. On the form that you get in your class that has the place for the passport photo, you write something to the effect:
"Please use my D.L. Photo you have on file". Of course, you must have a valid texas d.l. photo or texas i.d. photo on file.

And what you do when renewing and rather use your DL photo instead of CHL photo? My CHL pic is horrible. Worse than my DL one, if that is possible.jayinsat wrote:Simple. On the form that you get in your class that has the place for the passport photo, you write something to the effect:

Re: Designation to Use Your DL Picture
If I were doing any kind of screening, and saw my CHL photo, I would probably hold myself for further screening. Worst picture I ever saw.
If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.

As they said however,... I included new pictures (they were included as part of the class) but they used my DL pic anyway.

Re: Designation to Use Your DL Picture
On my recent renewal I selected the option to use my newer DL photo but DPS just re-inserted my older CHL license photo instead.

There is a lot of confusion on this matter at DPS it is a lotto whether you get new pictures, DL photo or old CHL photo. I think they use the one that takes the least effort.

Well, so far they haven't asked for new photos, so maybe they'll use my DL photo.

Ha! Well, my DL photo was taken when I was 21 and I'm 34 now....soooo I'm wondering if they'll look at that and say, "no way, no how!".TREKFAN wrote:Well I have the same one since I was 18 on my new chl.
