I'm trying to get an idea on how long this process takes. I sent in my paperwork and got my fingerprints taken on Feb 6th. The DPS website still doesn't show any update since I submitted my online application. I did speak to someone and the lady said they've received my fingerprints but nothing else.......yet.

If you've gone through this process the past 2 to 3 months, please share your experience and time line. Anyone that did this before all the "gun grabbing" in Washington started, I know it was quicker. I want to get an idea what to expect now a days.

Mine was 37 days, mailbox to mailbox in May of last year.

28 days, mailbox to mailbox for mine.

Just got mine one week ago - 46 days mailbox to mailbox. My status NEVER changed (other than fingerprints) until it went to manufacturing. I was very worried. I kept calling, and they would say that my paperwork hadn't been entered into the system. But they were wrong. Had to get a supervisor to get it straightened out. My husband, who submitted everything at the exact same time as me, was 47 days mailbox to mailbox. His status changed regularly along the way, and he did have 1 paperwork issue. So I would say 45 days is the average processing time, mailbox to mailbox.

Here is my timeline so far. Don't expect to see any updates for about 3 weeks after you mail.

But I'm getting worried...
I paid for and did my application online on Jan 15th
Did my CHL class on Feb 9th
mailed on Feb 11th
and still havent gotten any confirmation from the state that they recieved it.
I check the texas.gov everyday for the last 2 weeks
My buddy which did his application on Jan 20th and both of us took the same CHL class on the same day "Feb 9th" and mailed them on the same day has confirmation that the state recieved and is doing the background check.
I called the customer relations line today and after being on hold for a half and hour, The gentlemen said it's probally not enter in the database yet, and that it usally show up 2-4 weeks after someone mails it.
And that if I dont see it on the texas.gov website in a couple more weeks that I need to resend a whole new packet. This is getting real frustating

Don't sweat it too much. Your page will update soon. I was doing the same thing... checking my timeline against those who mailed the same day I did. I went to Background check a full week after some of them. There is no ryme or reason to how this process progresses. I saw someone post a while back, wait 3 weeks for your status to change on the website. If it does not change by then, wait two more weeks. Then you can start calling DPS...

Just to be clear - did you send it certified mail, return receipt requested, and have you gotten that return receipt to show that it actually was received in Austin? If they received it, then I would wait until the end of next week before I start getting too worried. If you can't prove that they actually received it in Austin, that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

Yeah, you would think that since I had a background check done by the state about a year ago for renewing my HazMat on my CDL that it shouldnt take so long. But I just want to see the message that the state has received my packet. I know all will be good....EVENTUALLY!!

No, I just sent it by regular mail...Believe me, I wished i did sent it certified NOW!!

Woo Hoo..The website updated today saying the received my packet. Mailed it on Feb.11th

Another post when I get the plastic in hand!

I mailed my packet on the 1st and I am getting antsy. I shipped it with tracking and they received it but website is still not updating. Guess I need to be a little more patient. I can't wait to drop my Glock 27 into my waistband.
