Two newB's in the forum

My wife and I decide to start carrying in light of the VT event and some break-ins in the neighborhood. We tried several different weapons and decided on the SA XD 9 sc and compact. Bought annual memberships at a local range and have practiced once a week for the last month so we felt good about qualifying and it paid off.

The XD's have a rather large following in the concealed carry ranks, and I think you'll find this forum is no exception.
There's a lot of folks here with vast amounts of knowledge on concealed carry, holsters, legal questions, and just about anything else you can think of...it's acutally an excellent resource to get answers to your questions.
Something I like, is in general the site is very civil in nature. People are typically polite, and the language used follows the “Ten year old daughter rule�.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t heated discussions, there are, but they generally stay civil in nature. If not, the moderators are pretty quick at shutting things down before they get out of control.
I think you and your wife will like the community, and let me say again welcome aboard

don't overlook situation awareness and mental conditioning... early identification of a 'threat' is often key in avoiding the developing situation. Many followers of the late Col. Jeff Cooper here.

I too carry the XD-SC9.
Great little shooter, it is easy to carry. I have 3 friends that took my recommendation and have purchased the same pistol!
Absolute must. Have you gotten the Pierce Grip Extension for the magazine?
It allows you to get your pinkie firmly on the grip, not under the mag.
Everyone that has used it loves it. Accuracy (for 10rd mag) increases noticeably. They run between $7-10.
