You are not alone, in that I see more and more women liking the .45 than most other calibers...

My wife being one of them, yet she'll shoot most anything but the .40 for some strange reason...I've come to the conclusion that that caliber has a little more "bark" that some folks don't like...

Glad you found something that works for you...Thats the biggest hurdle to get over...

My wife and I try to go on a "date" at least once a month to the range to send a box of our favorite ammo downrange, in the fun way...

We tried to tell Dr. Phil that its a great marriage builder, but I think he might be a bit of an gun control proponent... :lol:

Welcome catwoman!

I did the same thing to my Husband. He made the mistake of showing me his 45. From that moment on it became mine. It has over 150,000 rounds through it and I have worn out one barrel. It is the best shooting most accurate dependable gun I have shot.

I will be shooting at Thunder Tactical Shooters single stack match at the end of December.

Not surprising.

If not told beforehand...."its gonna kick like a mule", many women (and men) will simply accept the level of recoil without any anxiety formed from preconceived notions.

To most folks, the 45 ACP (in any reasonably sized gun) results in a noticable...but not heavy..."push".

Conversely, I often hear complaints about the "snappy" perceived recoil of cartridges like the .40, 357, even 9mm in the more potent loadings.

Of course, everyone has a different tolerance for recoil, but "recoil impulse" is a very real factor and does not go unnoticed by most folks.

Indeed....most women can shoot and handle a .45 just fine.

Actually I have to admit my wife handled another man's piece a couple of years ago...I won't divulge the name of that person as they are a member in good standing here in the forum... ;-)

It was at the first TexasCHLforum Day...And we were all up shooting a lot of others firearms...And "Wife Unit" had never shot a .45 before...So that wonderful person let her shoot a Les Baer (Thunder Ranch) .45, and the rest was history...Everyone watching got a big kick out of her reaction which was this evil grin...And somehow I figured that might hurt me in the pocket book as well, which made it even more funny...

Maybe one of these days I'll return my Dad's Michigan Arms .45 (which I have given a good home to for a year or so) and git one of these nice .45's...

One for me, and one for her... ;-)

Well, I haven't shot nearly as much as you, but it is a real good time!
Where's the Thunder Tactical Shooters thing happening? I douby I'll be able to make it--in addition to working full time, I'm in my next-to-last semester of college, and it's kicking my backside! It's pitiful to be doing homework when most of your contemporaries are winding down toward retirement, but I've always been a bit of a latebloomer!! Take care, and I hope you do fantastic at the match!

Thunder Tactical is south of Conroe and north of the Woodlands. If you get a chance during Christmas break PM me and we can get together if you are close enough.

Those Les Baer's are relly nice. A really loving and supportive husband would get one for his wife.

Yeah, I bought my wife a Kimber Ultra Carry II for her BD too. Finally getting a chance to get her to the range to shoot it. She shot an CDP UC that our friend has. Put 4 of the 7 rounds in the 10 ring at about 8 yards. I can't wait to hit the range today.

Sounds wonderful--if things aren't totally crazy here, I'll take you up on that! :grin:
