I can not put into words the way that this makes me feel. That the prison system would let them out parole because they say that they have no history of "violent crimes". To me there should be no early release for anyone in prison. I dont care who you are or what you did. NO one should get out early. Even if you are only to be in for 40 days. You should not get out early.
I just hope that the husband and father has family and friends that can help him through this time. I pray that he gets the help that he will need.

I tried to place myself in this man's shoes for just a minute and contemplated what I'd do. My mind and heart went blank. God help us all if we are ever caught in such a situation. The thought of losing my family at the hands of thugs such as these makes me sick to my stomach. Mr. Petit, my thoughts and prayers are with you today. Jeremiah 29:11. Men, don't forget to kiss your wives, hug your kids and tell them you love them when you leave for work today. God forbid, but the next family could be yours.
In Christ,
Joel C.

Joshua Komisarjevsky, 26, of Cheshire, and Steven Hayes, 44, of Winsted, were arraigned Tuesday on charges of assault, sexual assault, kidnapping, burglary, robbery, arson, larceny and risk of injury to children.
That had better mean multiple-count first-degree murder charges, and the DA had better do the right job handling the case. We talked recently about Harris Count's ex-DA Johnny Holmes in another thread; I hope whatever jurisdiction of Connecticut that Cheshire falls under, that they have a Johnny Holmes at the helm on this one....and state police have said that additional charges are likely. [from Fox]
Plea bargain? The closest these two reprobates should come to a plea bargain is in negotiation for what will be served as their last meal.

Hayley was 17 and had just graduated high school. Her younger sister, Michaela, was only 11.Petit, the president of the Hartford County Medical Association, is a noted specialist in diabetes and endocrinology and the medical director of the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.
Petit's wife, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, 48, a nurse, was co-director of the health center at Cheshire Academy, a private boarding school.
Hayley Petit received an early acceptance to Dartmouth, her father's alma mater. A tireless fundraiser for multiple sclerosis, captain of the basketball and crew teams and role model for younger students, Hayley Petit came from a family where helping people just came naturally.
From the Houston Chronicle (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/hea ... 99739.html):
He has that right. And not just the public in Connecticut.Prosecutor Michael Dearington said he had not yet decided whether to pursue the death penalty.
"I know the public consensus is they should be fried tomorrow," he said.
There is a sergeant in the Jersey Village Police Department who has a storied military and LEO history. He allows a small handful of civillian shooters to train with his officers. He's told me one of them is a physician, and just about the best practical shooter on the squad.
If only these spineless victimizers had selected the home of a different physician...

This just in: Prosecutor says he will seek death penalty in home invasion case.
How could he do anything less? But if he's taking his time in making decisions, maybe he'll be meticulous in his prosecution.

I hear stuff like this and it's hard to believe that someone can do something like that. I don't care what anyone says, I think things are getting worse in the world and have been for years. That's just inhuman behavior. That's also why we have to be vigilant all the time.Charles L. NEWINGTON, Conn. -- State gun sales have shot up in the days after the wife and two daughters of a prominent Connecticut physician were killed, according to a local gun shop owner.
Scott Hoffman runs Hoffman's Gun Center on the Berlin Turnpike. In the past few days, following the triple homicide in Cheshire, Hoffman said that people have been rushing to his store to buy guns for themselves and their homes.
"They're scared," he said. "They're scared for their own personal safety and their family's safety, their children's safety and they want a way to protect themselves."
Hoffman said that the most popular weapon for both men and women looking to defend themselves is a defense-grade shotgun. Hoffman credited the gun's popularity to the short waiting period -- it can be obtained in two weeks as opposed to waiting 90 days for a pistol permit.
"We sell about 8,000 guns a year, and I'd say a majority of them are for self-defense," he said.
Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Jessica Schneider reported that residents questioning their sense of safety following the home invasion have also been calling companies that install security systems.
Joe Mitchell of Associated Security Corp. said his company's phones have been ringing off the hook.
"I had 15 phone calls on my phone by 9:30 in the morning," he said.
He said that security systems aren't meant to protect valuables anymore, that many people use them to protect their lives.

and the Fox News (Sunday morning "Fox and Friends" show) follow up discussion one week later is almost reminicient of the advice given to young women in the 1970's when attacked by rapists. The basics from the wonderful advisor on Fox ... just stay calm and give them whatever they want..... don't be a hero and attempt to fight back... be patient and try to find a second when they aren't watching and make your escape... and on and on... even to the point of answering the "blonde" question about locking yourself in the bathroom. I just can not believe that there are law enforcement "professionals" that would even suggest that a locked bathroom (in probably 95% of homes would be a definate dead end with absolutely NO escape route) would deter a person bold enough to breach your home's first line of defense, being a closed/locked outer door.
One question was posed (very timidly) about a homeowner being armed, and the answer was a rather terse maybe, but probably not advisable because of the greater danger of the homeowner shooting him/her self. This has still got to be an issue of local environment and upbringing. It seems that the ONLY mindset that is promoted on any media outlet is the big city elitist mentality. Almost the same as the political mindset of not fighting back against an enemy because we may upset them more.

I watched the same show, and was just as shocked about the advice, except my perception about the question of homeowners owning guns was positive in light of the stance about cooperating. I was sort of surprised when they actually advocated having a gun in ones home. Of coarse there were the standard, caveats about getting training, checking with the local police department (Yeah, sure thing )mr surveyor wrote:and the Fox News (Sunday morning "Fox and Friends" show) follow up discussion one week later is almost reminicient of the advice given to young women in the 1970's when attacked by rapists. yep, the "call your local law enforcement to get proper training" advice is what seems to counter the advice that owning a gun is appropriate. It's the big city police chief opinion that homeowners should NOT have guns that seems to pervade. That is possibly a perception created by an oversealous anti gun media though. I just think the "run and hide crowd" has a much more willing accomplice in the media than the "defend yourself crowd". Most of these people really believe that it is the duty of their local police department to "protect" them from these type occurances.
