Armed TX homeowner routs 4 armed home invaders

#1

Post by frankie_the_yankee »

Saw a story on Fox News this morning about an attempted home invasion by for armed bg's. I think it was in Ft. Worth but I'm not sure. At any rate, the homeowner came up firing and the bg's immediately fled. He was reported to have chased them out into the street. No other details at this time, but the Fox News announcers pondered the contrast between this incident and the tragic happenings in Ct. last week, and said that this seemed to lend credence to the idea that having a gun for protection might be a good idea.

Dallas Homeowner Kills Invader, Wounds Another
3rd In Custody, Police Look For 4th
(CBS 11 News) An alleged home invader was shot and killed by a Dallas resident after the robbery, police said.

According to reports, a group of four men stormed into a house in the 9000 block of Woodshore.

Police said a resident and a group of home invaders exchanged gunfire in the neighborhood after the four robbers took "some property" and fled.

The homeowner also wounded a second person while a third was arrested. Officers are still looking for the fourth.

******************

Looks like these scumbags picked the WRONG home to invade. In fact, I would say they were in the wrong state for their chosen line of "work".

God Bless Texas!

I'm waiting for a description of the "property" that the "homeowner" was relieved of.

"The homeowner said the four gunmen burst into his home and stole a large sum of cash, but as they fled, he grabbed his own handgun and opened fire."

It will be interesting to see how the facts shake out on this incident as they become known.

The homeowner sounds pretty hard core - pursuing 4 heavily armed people as they fled the scene. If it was me, I'd be happy that they were fleeing, leaving me unharmed, and let the cops take it from there.

The next thing that jumps out at me is that the guy was a good shot and certainly brought "enough gun" to the fight. Trust me, we won't be hearing that he used some little pocket pistol.

It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out in the end. I'm thinking the cash in question was either drug-related or the homeowner has a legitimate business and just attracted the wrong attention.

The DallasNews.Com website was reporting that one of the BGs used an AK47. Also indicated possible charges; LE agrees the shoot was justified but seems to take issue that the homeowner left his property and continued the gun fight while chasing the BGs in his vehicle.

DALLAS — An attempted home invasion ended with what police called an all-out gunbattle early Wednesday in a North Dallas residential neighborhood. Police said four heavily-armed men attempted to break into a house in the 9000 block of Woodshore Drive near North Central Expressway and Royal Lane at 2:30 a.m.

The homeowner had a gun and opened fire on the suspects pursuing them as they fled, hitting at least two of them, police said. One was found dead in an SUV several blocks away from the crime scene. Another was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in very critical condition. The homeowner was not hurt. A third suspect was taken into custody and the fourth fled the scene. An AK-47 assault rifle was found near the suspects' vehicle.

Police said a gunshot victim who showed up later at Parkland Memorial Hospital may be linked to the home invasion attempt. While investigators said the homeowner was within his legal rights to fire on intruders, he may be subject to charges because he left his property to pursue the robbery suspects in his vehicle.

The homeowner, whose name was unavailable, was taken into custody for questioning. No charges had been filed against him.

Not that I think he should be charged, but it seems like following these guys was foolish for both legal and safety reasons.

Wow, good for the homeowner!

Only thing he might should have done differently is chasing them down off his property with his vehicle...

chasing 4 guys into who the heck knows what kind of scenario?
maybe there are 2-3 more guys at the vehicle? at some point you
call it a victory and regroup in a defendable position...

As more facts come out, something seems a little strange about all this.

Makes me wonder what else they took. The Kalashnikov might have been the homeowner's, and he feared what they could do with it more than he feared for himself. Or they could have stolen something else of equal danger to third parties.

Just a theory, putting it out there. As always, we don't know the whole story. As it was told, one man chasing four over money, seems foolish, but there could be some crucial details that were left out for one reason or another.

I think he could be in trouble. If he was going to stop
them he should have done it on his property.

They were fleeing and he was chasing them down the street
exchanging gunfire, thereby endangering third parties.

Darn good shooting on the home owners part.
Shot the tires out, shot the bad guys, and came through on top.
I would buy him an adult beverage for that, unless it comes out that he was dirty to begin with.
But alas, we wait for more info.
