I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, "None of us are more exposed and/or vulnerable than when we have our backs turned to the world as we load our vehicles".

Not only is it a problem when you turn to load your car and have your back to your surroundings, it seems in our neck of the woods they try to turn on as few lights as possible. Most of the time it appears as if they only have every other light pole working which creates dark holes and shadows making it easy for bad guys to hide and pursue their victims.

“If I had been carrying I would've had two options,” McGibney says. “Holster the weapon or carry it in my purse. If it had been in my purse I never would've been able to get to it.
My wife purse carries and I can't get her to IWB or OWB. Although, she wears scrubs 3 days a week, that would be difficult to do so. I showed her this article for a little reinforcement.

Same situation with my Daughter (RN), pretty much always in scrubs (travel nursing on top of that). Can not convince her to wear her weapon (where allowed) on her person. If you purse carry and you lose your purse....you lose your weapon and your other valuables.

I fully understand...some circumstances just don't allow for 'on body' carry, but whenever possible...it is the best thing to do.

Will show this article to the little 'hard-head' I raised and hope for the best. ;-)

Glad she was ok. Sad this happened but if it has convinced her to get a chl she wont be in this situation again

I wear athletic shorts half the time and still wear a belt and gun under my shirt. It could be manageable to carry in scrubs.

Ruger LCP with a pocket clip clipped into the drawstring in the scrub pants. Scrub shirts are typically untucked, and buy them just a little bigger than most so you can't see any printing.

She is now armed with a seven shot .380... far better than trying to stab some gunman with your keys.

They make scrub pants with front pockets . Rugar LCP ( or similar ) in a thin pocket holster does not print at all to notice , easy to get to .

Just goes to show you. Most consider Belton a nice "safe" area. Just reinforces the reason to carry.

Like many on here, we've shopped at that Wally World and were at the Temple mall last week which is where a similar incident happened. I cannot get my wife to carry on her person. She insists on leaving it in her purse which is better than nothing I guess. She rarely goes any where without me and that's one excuse she uses for having it in the purse.

With this sounding like the incident at the mall, expect another one of these reports in the Temple area in the near future.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

This incident happened at 6:45pm last Thursday the 7th...

I WAS AT THAT WALMART AND TACO BELL AN HOUR AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED!!!

Another reason why I carry daily, regardless if I am running a quick errand or going out for the day.
