Re: Solicitors
Back to solicitors.
Back when we lived in League City one late afternoon I was out in my garage with the double door rolled up working on bore sighting in an AR I had just completed. I was OCing my Kimber at the time as was usually the case when at home.
My Super Duty and Mom's car was parked in the driveway so you could not really see me except for my upper body as I moved around.
Two solicitors, a man and woman came walking up from around the front of the house. I guess they rang the bell but no one answered. Mrs. Anygun was at work. They came up between the vehicles as I raised my voice and told them that whatever they were peddling I didn't want any and to leave. Just then the man saw me standing with my gun side towards him, my hand on the AR. They were both standing there looking at me. I told them that it was not often I had to repeat myself. They left in a hurry.
Did I mention solicitors annoy me?

I wish I could face time when someone calls my phone trying to sell something. That may work better than blocking calls and being on a no-call list that I guess no-one obeys.

It's lucky for them they were in your driveway and not on your lawn.anygunanywhere wrote:Back to solicitors.

Usually about once a week, one will show up here in the office. I was not aware they needed a badge, although, I do recall some T-Mobile sales people having badges.mrvmax wrote:In Friendswood all solicitors have to register with the city and wear a badge the city gives them. If they come to my door without the badge I tell them the requirements and if they keep going door to door I call the Police and they track them down. We get too many "magazine subscription" scammers and people from out of state going door to door running scams and I keep up with the Friendswood blotter and see how some of these door to door people end up getting arrested due to warrants. It may seem minor to get the Police but I would rather the Police keep the crooks from scamming people with their high pressure sales tactics.
We have a no solicitation sign on our door, so we usually just reference the door and tell them to leave.

I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do those things to other people and I require the same of them.

If I don't recognize you I don't answer the door. Same thing with the phone if I don't recognize the number I don't answer it. If it's important they'll leave a message.
